Los Angeles Kings : Kevin Fiala’s Season Ends Early After Successful Surgery on Injured Leg

Kevin Fiala is out for the rest of the regular season, the Los Angeles Kings confirm. Fiala underwent successful surgery to repair fractures in his left lower leg, sustained during the Olympics. The injury occurred in a game against Canada, where Fiala was injured in a hit by Tom Wilson. He was stretchered off the ice with an air cast, and there was no penalty on the play. Swiss coach Patrick Fischer labeled the incident as “accidental,” while Wilson expressed his sympathy for Fiala’s situation. Fiala’s absence is a major blow for the Kings, who sit three points outside a playoff spot in the Western Conference. He ranks second on the team with 40 points and 18 goals. Teammate Adrian Kempe voiced the team’s disappointment, emphasizing Fiala’s significance to the Kings as they navigate this challenging stretch.
