If Roy was such a good coach he would have recognized that our old team canāt play his run n gun style and that a more defensive approach like Trotz had implemented was what was needed. Peter will implement a more structured system but likely too late to make a difference with 4 games left. I certainly prefer Peter over Patrick.

Enormous mistake. Donāt blame PR. The malaise is still in the locker room from the Lamoriello days. They should have had a full bloodletting and rebuild three seasons ago. Isles management had their head up there you know where. Iām so disappointed.
They should've done it sooner they only have four games left that's the best case scenario eight points it's a possible eight points and teams that have one less point than they do have one or two games in hand but either way they definitely need to win all four.
Good move my only thing was if they could've gotten John Cooper in the off-season but maybe Darche knows that he's likely to resign or got some Intel although I don't know if he can do that whether that be considered tampering but. Deboar perfect in game seven he's like 9-0 or something like that he's been to the finals twice he's shown that he can get his teams to the playoffs and a consistent basis even though some of his teams have had a lot of talent Roy's Colorado teams have had a lot of talent and they either didn't make the playoffs or lost in the first round and they had some of the best players in the game. so I think this was a good move. Certainly Roy had to go. No goals no plan afraid to talk about the playoffs as a goal really didn't talk about winning games as a goal just playing good hockey which is in the eye of the beholder, lack of standards, etc.
good move by Darche may not have enough time for this year although it will be interesting to see if they get in the playoffs who knows maybe they can make a run, but going forward into the future plus we got some good young players coming. playoffs are tighter they're less relying on offense if they can lock shit down they got a chance if they get there but that doesn't look very good.
Iām not sure I agree with the timing. These guys were expected back in August to not make the playoffs this season. Darche has now had a full season to make assessments and hopefully heāll make some other big off season decisions. I think Roy shouldāve been allowed to finish the season. Sometimes bringing in a new coach lights a fire, and sometimes it doesnāt. Weāll see what happens. Maybe DeBoer can end his streak of failing to close out a successful Stanley Cup run with the Islanders.

The team doesn't quite have the roster yet for "free-flowing hockey," and they need a bit more of Barry Trotz-type defense. Hopefully Darche can deal some of their detritus for useful players, and the young talent can improve the team's offense. They have a bright future with their prospects and youth, I believe, but they need to protect the "house" better.
Roy took a lottery team that has lacked talent and depth for years to a potential contender. Firing Roy is just crazy coward behavior begging for failure by the FO, problems are deeper. They need to get rid of a few players this off season also. Islanders will need to make room for some of these young guys.
