  1. The magic number is 2 to finish (at least) 3rd in the Metro and make the playoffs. Some math…. Neither the Flyers (90 points, 5 games remaining = 100), Islanders (89, 4 left = 97) nor the Jackets (88, 5 left = 98) can catch up in terms of regulation wins (which would break ties). Pens are at 96 and will automatically finish at least 3rd in the Metro if they get to 98 points — Jackets could theoretically get to 98 but would lose on total regulation wins.
The magic number is 4 to finish 2nd in the Metro and get home ice. Flyers can get 100 points if they win five games in a row. If Pens win two, they get to 100 and they'd win that tie breaker. Let's get some home ice!

  2. Im not surprised by the Pens, Im more surprised that the Flyers called up Martone for the last few games, stole 3rd in the Metro, and now we may have a Pens vs Flyers 1st round match up where Philly wont even be able to have Martone on the roster

  3. Is Murashov the future in net? Absolutely. Is it a little late in the season for experimentation, when you haven’t even punched a ticket yet? Also, absolutely. Murashov has a total of 5 NHL games to his credit, with pretty abysmal numbers on top of that. Has Silovs played any better? No, but Silovs also has 56 games of NHL experience, and also deep run experience with Abbotsford (MVP). He has an established history of performing well in high risk situations. You 100% ride him into the playoffs until Skinner is well. He needs to see as much puck as humanly possible, to hopefully break him out of his funk.
