Simplified shot pucks to the net, create some chances it’s almost like they’re afraid to create chances. They cannot rely on other teams to lose to help them.
These media members have to start asking tougher questions. Stop the "What went wrong?" "How do you fix this?" questions.
Start asking them if they even want to be here anymore. Start asking them "what do you have to say to the fans that have been waiting 10 years for playoffs?". These guys should be feeling like they have massive pressure to deliver. It seems like they are content with where they are and they are checked out for this year. Nothing is going to magically changed in the offseason, it needs to come from within the room and its not.
This team cannot continue with Copp, Compher, and Rasmussen playing at center. Regardless of contracts, changes at this position are necessary. If not 2026/27 will be more of the same.
Enough excuses. Years past time to see results. Every player on this roster should be worried about their jobs, since they all play for a paycheck instead of trying to win.

3 horrific defensive plays, all involving guys who the team trusts to be 'defensively responsible'. ie it wasn't Cat or Kane or even Ray, it was Seider (last goal), Edvinsson (first goal), Chiarot (2nd goal), Kasper (last goal).
Just unacceptable. We all understand the offense's current situation. It's based on a couple guys and maybe the power play. And when those guys don't have a good day, or their center gets worked all day long as Andrew did today, suddenly you know you're not having a good scoring day as a team. Your defense is much more in your control of its own performance and it has to show up on that kind of day.
Didn't do it today. Cat and Kane aren't gonna carry this team's sorry carcass every game. Would be nice, but it ain't happening. Some other dudes have to step up at some point or this thing isn't happening. Perron needs to hit that net, not hit the tap in at the end. Emmitt needs to have his first good finish at the net in his NHL career on that early grade A. The 3-5 guys involved in the goals against need to play basic defense for their team.
The lack of depth scoring is definitely a problem, but the biggest problem is clearly the leadership among the players. Larkin is no doubt a very good player, and I appreciate him playing hurt, but it’s become clear he’s not captain material. He (and now unfortunately Raymond) say the same thing over and over again in these post game losses always sounding so mellow while trying to play it off like they still have plenty of time versus actually being angry, showing emotion and calling the team out for not being good enough or playing with any real urgency. It’s like they feel sorry for themselves and are waiting for things to go downhill versus wanting to actually do what it takes to will the team to a win. Then when it comes to on the ice or on the bench as soon as something goes wrong their body language is always awful. I rarely ever see anyone be super vocal trying to spark energy or pick the team up, instead it’s just a bunch of guys looking frustrated/down all not saying a word. Go listen to Brady Tkachuk mic’d up on the bench in the gold medal game, or the famous clip of Joe Pavelski addressing his team in San Jose during intermission – those are true leaders and we seemingly don’t have anyone who speaks up like that. Lastly, I have never seen a team struggle as much as we do to make the simple play to get the puck out of their d-zone – it’s always us hanging onto the puck too long or we try to make some cute pass both of which lead to a turnover and typically a high end scoring chance for the opposition. Sorry for venting but this team is infuriating. I hope they find a way to get in but if they don’t change what I called out above they won’t and never will. Also, acquiring Quinn Hughes who wanted to come to Detroit could have done wonders for this team… thanks for being too conservative to get him here Stevie.

These guys are supposedly professionals and are paid the long dollar to play a game. So its Larkins problem that these bums dont show up every game ?
