Chabot leaves game after uncalled Miller crosscheck – Tough Call Review

Thomas Chabot instantly grabbed his wrist and headed to the dressing room after taking this crosscheck from J. T. Miller. There was no call on the play.

  1. When enforcers were removed from hockey, it left a disciplinary vacuum. A new rule should be introduced: any penalty resulting in an injury should carry a suspension equal to the duration of the victim's recovery.

  2. It was such a BS non-call. The GD league sucks at what they let go. There was a moratorium on cross-checking 2-3 years ago and now its back more than it ever was. It’s easy, lazy and gutless. Screw Miller who had the audacity to whine about a play he took later in the game.

  3. This will probably lead to Ottawa missing the playoffs. This should get two minutes every time.

  4. Chabot was seen with a brace after the game and is now out long term. F JT Miller. He went straight for the crosscheck on an unprotected area. He knew exactly what he was doing. This to me is on the same level as the knee on knee from Gudas… There is zero hockey play prior to the crosscheck, Miller didn't even try to play the puck, he stepped forward as he was completely locked in on targeting the arm

  5. There are several crosschecks like this every game. Unfortunately this one caused an injury.
So tell me. How do the officials crackdown on crosschecks? Call everyone? Or just ones that cause an injury.
Btw I'm not saying that this wasn't a crosscheck and didn't deserve a penalty.
But I am questioning while you singled out this particular crosscheck.

  6. Injury update: Thomas Chabot had surgery and will be out 4-8 weeks. So breaking bones with boneheaded plays is okay?

  7. Drives me nuts that refs are super tight about holding and hooking, but couldn't care less about actual violent acts like cross-checking, which can end careers at that instant or later down the line like they hurt Mario Lemieux career.
