Steve Yzerman was drafted and became a Detroit Red Wing in 1983. He won his first Stanley Cup in the 1997-98 season. That's 14 years of playing. He was in the Final in 1995 but that team got swept. I truly believe, as far as Yzerman sees it, 10 years is not a long time frame.
It's not all on Larkin. There's plenty of blame to pass around. JVR, Copp, Kasper, Finnie, Compher, Appleton, Rasmussen are all no offense. A good team would have maybe 2 IF they were defensive players on the PK. This team is worthless 5 on 5. All year. The first period of most games they are no shows. Other teams are not. This group cannot win back to back games. Other teams do. This group is mentally and physically soft. A double whammy. A player like Marchand is invaluable for his spirit, desire and heart. Hockey players are a dime a dozen. Hockey players with the intangible will to win, who don't quit, and know when to turn it up are priceless. Playoffs? LOL You must be joking.
I used to get on the train on hating on Larkin but besides him, Cat and Gibson this team would be bottom in the league. Yes Larkin wouldn’t start on every team as a first line center but the dude at least gives a damn. Dude is playing through an injury and still playing the best on the team. Stevie is to blame regardless of what he did in his career if he was anybody else he’d be fired already

The only time Hockey made me happy this year was beating Canada.
Larkin is not a top line center. He’d be on the 2nd line on any other team.
