  1. If there isn't already, there needs to be a timer after a goal, which starts when the refs are ready. How much time I don't know, but not long. Delay of game and no chance to challenge after that time expires.

  2. Not bad news for Tampa. We seem to do better with the younger defensemen ngl. He’s clearly been going through stuff though.

  3. Glad to see high-profile guys like Hedman taking advantage and not being afraid to take mental health/personal days. Wasn't so long ago that you'd be called 'soft' and your stock would drop…

  4. RIP to OHLer Jacob Winterton, Ryan Winterton's older brother. Ryan took a leave of absence from the Kraken a couple of days ago. Can't imagine being 22 and losing your 24/25 yr old brother. Just brutal.

  5. As far as the iPads go, while I sometimes enjoy players studying and learning from them, I would have no problem seeing them gone from the benches. Let them review footage during intermissions or have the coach in the booth describe what he saw. I also have no problem with the center-ice scoreboard being used for a home-ice advantage. It’s nice to see players with their heads up, looking at the same thing we’re looking at – and if someone who is not on the coaching staff has the ability to exert influence, that makes it fun. (I don’t like the “power up” sound effect at the end of penalties in some arenas, though).

  6. No word on the Dubios-Thomas situation?! DOPS needs to be rocked. Maybe Parros needs another scrap to rearrange those brain cells.

  7. I wish Verbeek would lock down a few more contracts before the offseason. 7 UFAs and 5 RFAs when the season ends, including Gudas, Trouba, Carlson, Carlsson, Gauthier, Mintyukov, & Zelwegger.

  8. I can see a coach with an iPad showing a rookie a play that he made a mistake on so that he makes a better play next time. Something to that effect I'm sure.

  9. Columbus always reminds me of the Hartford Whalers when the Whalers had a few good years in a row in the late 1980's. They had a good teams but you always had the idea they'd never get far in the playoffs, and they never did. Maybe this year will be different for the Bloojax. What I'd really like to see from them is that there is some continuation of improvement next year. Like, if they're better next year than they were this year.

That never seems to happen with them. It's always they have a great run at the end of the year and maybe sneak into the playoffs and when the next year starts they just go back to being lousy again (as happened this year) and have to fight and claw their way back through the whole year to being good again.

  10. Svechkov is a bargain and two years makes that deal even better! iPads on the bench are fine.

  11. iPads on the bench are NOT needed and SHOULDNT be allowed ……. DIDNT need them BEFORE , DONT need them now ……. use them in between periods , use them during practice ….., NOT DURING A GAME

  12. Big Mike was an absolute beast for UMass – Hockey East Player of the Year this season, really excited to see him in a couple years for Utah

  13. Coaches need to make decision to challenge based on what they saw (like the refs). No assistance from video replay. It will cut down on all the tick tack nonsnesne challenges. Replay reversal is for obvious blown calls…..if it is obvious you don't need to look at a replay.

  14. Panthers fan here wishing Hedman the best possible outcome to whatever he is dealing with.

As for the Panthers, they will close on 500 man games lost by the end of the season due to injuries. That is just an impossible stat, yet there it is.

  15. The pens weren’t supposed to be any good at all this year and have surprised almost everyone! Lately they forgot how to win. It’s looking like another non playoff year again if things don’t turn around! What more can be said? Maybe the Olympics should have been played during the offseason? At least the schedule wouldn’t be so outrageous for every team out there! Injuries abound everywhere!!!

  16. That use of iPads on the bench specially after you just made a bad play… Not great for anyone's mental health. If I was golfing and made a bad drive off the fairway and instantly looked at what my swing looked like… It would probly burn into my brain so bad all I saw for the rest of the round was myself doing the bad move. Which then I'd be only thinking of and would repeat until the end. Ok, fair. Situational mispositioning in hockey might be useful to get a grasp of but otherwise.. Uhhg. 🙁

  17. It’s been a rough season for Hedman. Tampa will be fine without him. I hope he takes all the time he needs. Best wishes for the Cap!

  18. NO I-pads on the bench, they can use them in between periods or at practices. I prefer the players watching the action in Real-Time during play.

  19. I can imagine some of the Panthers players want a break. Not consciously, and no one would admit it, but I'm sure they are exhausted. 3 finals in a row, and 9 players on Olympic teams. Crazy amount of hockey
