I don’t recall you guys crying when Kuch drug his team to the playoffs and outscoted his closest teammate by 50 points.
Skinner was a problem and they should have traded him, but not for Jarry lol. The thing is too that Skinner is not Edmonton's only problem by far.
You have 2 defense that are paid a total of 18mil and one of them I'm still convinced doesn't know who his teammates are (Bouchard and his shitty giveaways). Bouchard has been doing ok recently but was absolute pain to watch in the early games. Those early games definitely matter given their play off position or lack thereof.
Edmonton has too many problems and am convinced that they're not all on the ice. Management is garbage and just counting the days till McDavid leaves without a Cup.

Evereybody knew, what a bad idea it was, to take Jarry. What is the matter with Bowman?
What cup? theres no chance Oilers get close to a cup this year. That defense group have been atrocious – Walman, Nurse and even Ekholm at times have been awful… guys like emberson and statsney dont really add anything – team is just stale
It is so Oilers that the goalie counting stats after the trade got even worse.

Why do you feel bad for Jarry? You guys are in full on SELL mode and you have 3 mediocre goalies and can afford to package one of them with another asset. They would love OEL and Bobby McMann. How about adding Stolarz to the package and get back a 2027 1st (Edmonton doesn't have one in 2026), Beau Aukey, and Issac Howard.

Don’t even need to watch this video, yes, it’s a terrible idea, why are u trading a bad goalie for another goalie that has also been bad and very inconsistent, there’s only one goalie if I had bin Edmonton that I would have traded for knowing there numbers are brutal, binnington, I would take the chance on binnigton, other then him if I was Edmonton I would have done everything I could have in the offseason to bring in a true number one goalie, idc what u gotta do, trade the entire farm, u have a window here with the greatest player probably since Gretzky, and ur blowing it, get him some goaltending he will provide you all the offense in the world, get him a goalie that’s gonna stop pucks

The problem was not getting Jarry. The problem was getting Jarry for Skinner. They should have kept Skinner and traded one of the others.
To borrow a baseball phrase, the Oilers consistently exhibit defensive indifference.
as an oilers fan, skinner was never the problem but nobody wanted to hear that. we pay darnell nurse 3x what hes worth and its killed our ability to put out a stanley cup level dcore.
Jarry is absolutely useless; his stats (0.86??)were no different from sloppy skinner; BOTH are bad and there is NO IMPROVEMENT whatsoever; And to boot: he was also injured when Oilers took him in; BAD ; package him out and trade him with usless NURSE and even Mangipani asap…… Bowman should be fired when Oilers lose out 1st round;
It blows my mind that people are STILL crapping on McDavid for the Oilers issues! He's ONE GUY on a TEAM! One guy who has put up consistent 100 point plus seasons, as well as setting a new record at the Winter Olympics. The players around him aren't performing! Bouchard and Nurse are pylons, turning over the puck every chance they get. I watched the highlights vs the Sharks today, and Bouchard had the puck behind his own net. I joked that I thought he was going to shoot on his own goal, and before the words finished leaving my mouth, he'd turned it over! Frankly, if McDavid leaves the Oilers, I would completely understand it! It would suck, but he is doing nearly all the work here!
This is a trade Pittsburgh won. But really the worse part of the trade is the term/cost of Jarry's contract. Even if Skinner is not an upgrade he's an ufa that shouldn't get a long term deal in Pittsburgh since Pens have goalies that could be ready very soon.

Oilers won’t win a cup with their current defence and goaltending. They won’t. Jarry wasn’t an upgrade from Skinner and Ingram is up and down but not consistently reliable.
I feel bad for Jarry because he was rebuilding his game and confidence with the Penguins but the trade to EDM destroyed both, maybe permanently.
The Oilers just refuse to fix what the actual problem is, and have since McDavid was drafted. Their team defense is atrocious.
This is not a goal tending issue.
Skinner is worse. He has worse playoff numbers of all time , Jarry can’t be worse
Look at Jarry's stats at the beginning of the year with the Penguins. Look at them now. You're telling me he all of a sudden he forgot how to play goalie. I'm sorry I don't buy it. No he hasn't been good, but their team defense is dreadful. And I'm sure their goaltending coach isn't helping anyone.
He has also had personal things like a new child in the last year. And I'm sure with the move and the bad play, it has all compounded into what we are currently seeing with him. This happened at the beginning of last season, and that resulted in 2 trips to the AHL. But then he righted the ship. And his numbers after the second call-up to before he was traded were really good.
After watching him for years, when he is on, he is unbelievable. When he isn't, this is what he looks like. It was this way in Pittsburgh.
They can't play defence and they refuse to get an actual good goalie between the pipes, both things compound and make it all so much worse. It's truly remarkable having the best player and wasting all his prime years by not building a team around him.
Im a Penguins fan, at the time I didnt want the trade, but after I saw the return I changed my tune 😭 I really think the Oilers should have gone for Binnington even though hes been having a rough year but they went for Jarry who in my opinion is more or less the same as Skinner in net.
Why would the Oilers regret trading for Jarry? I mean sure, their goal-tending sucks. But when was the last time the Oilers goalie situation didn't suck? Dwayne Roloson?

2025–26 stats: Sergei Bobrovsky at .874, Tristan Jarry at .890. I wonder if Panthers fans grill Bob the way we grill our goalies. Sometimes it feels like we turn it toxic for any goalie we pick. By the way, Pickard’s numbers are in that same range, and for the money he was solid, which should have let us focus on the D-men in front of him.
Jarry isnt the problem, when your facing teams 5 on 0 a goalie cant do much. Oilers DEFENCE sucks completely useless thats why every goalie that goes there "sucks" but it isnt their fault in the slightest.
It was a trade for trade sake. It was oilers management saying "hey, we didn't do nothing!" U also didn't really do anything…
It's like carrying around a flat spare tire so u can say u have one…
The advanced stats incorporate defense…but the point is well taken that a good goalie won’t solve every issue. That said, they’ve literally been in the Finals the last two seasons…at the margin a massive upgrade in net could absolutely be the difference

There is an art to being that kind of fan. Like St Louis fans who will tell you Parayko has scored more goals on his own team than for his team. Deflections off 55 into the back of the net are one of our most consistent sources of "offense."
The Oilers should be doing everything they can to trade for Stolarz.

everyone saying defense is the issue(its a major part of it) but those same people before the trade said Skinner was the problem. fans and media ran him out of town and now the oilers are stuck with jarry whos a downgrade from skinner
How Jarry ever made it to the NHL is a mystery,Ingram has the same defense in front of him every game.
