Kyle Connor Skips State of the Union After Olympic Gold | Different Choice Than Connor Hellebuyck

US hockey gold medalist Kyle Connor made a surprising decision after winning Olympic gold with Team USA. Instead of attending President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address in Washington, Connor stayed in Winnipeg to prepare with the Winnipeg Jets for their next NHL game.

Meanwhile, Jets teammate and Team USA goalie Connor Hellebuyck joined most of the U.S. squad in Washington after his heroic 41-save performance in the gold medal win over Canada.

With the Jets facing long playoff odds, Connor says his focus is on preparation and helping his team make a late-season push. His decision highlights a sharp contrast in how Olympic champions are handling their post-gold celebrations.

  1. There's nothing political about getting invited to the white house, presidents have been inviting athletes for decades. Why is this time any different? Radical loons have nothing better to do than make everything political charged to stir up animosity.
