The Montreal Canadiens pulled off a gritty comeback win over the Carolina Hurricanes, taking it 5-2 at the Bell Centre. Despite being heavily outshot (42-19), Montreal capitalized on their chances and flipped the game after falling behind 2-0 early.
Carolina came out flying with goals from Nikolaj Ehlers and Jordan Staal, but the Canadiens didn’t panic. They clawed back with three unanswered goals to take control, then sealed it late with a breakaway goal and an empty-netter.
Jakub Dobes was the story of the night—standing on his head and shutting the door after the early deficit. This was a classic “bend but don’t break” performance where Montreal’s finishing and goaltending completely outweighed the shot clock.

SLOW start…….Canes have a high pressure forecheck. Man did they turn it on! Dobes played incredible. Demidov was full of pissnvinegar all night, glad to see him get a beauty! First line was stellar ad usual. Boduc will get one soon. One question……when does Whisky sleep?
I heard a rumour this week about Bobrowsky coming to Montréal… Atre they kidding? They can keep their Borbrowsky: we have Dobès! ^^
I must admit I had a little preference for Xhekaj over Struble, but Struble is making his case right now. His last two games have been brilliant.
So can we all agree that the Montembeau years have come to an end. Montreal was awful in the first. Except for one guy.
Matheson is a liability on the back end. Two bad plays and you qualified both with the word “ unfortunate “ . No pass here for Matheson. He cost us a bad start, Dobes the first star, saved us enough until we could find our way back into the game. Can’t believe Caufield was taken off the line in the last five minutes when the net was empty. Pretty crappy by St Louis. Caufield plays a strong 200 ft game. So why? Demidov scored a beauty. Kapanen also scored and both are having great rookie years despite recent criticisms. Habs are good enough to make St Louis and all his short comings as a coach, good. We will need size and grit in the playoffs when guys like Matheson, Cariere get exposed.
Gotta love Demidov and Kapanen. Newhook ain't bad either 🙂

I have been on team Dobes for awhile now. Fowler is a great young goalie showing flashes of Carey Price but Dobes has proven without a shadow of a doubt that if you play him consistently, he is ready to be a #1 goalie.
This was a real struggle for Montreal to generate anything.

I remember the last Habs team with this much jam…I was 13 and it was 1979.
Xhekaj is way better than struggle dot. Give Xhekaj 14 min and He will also produces. MSL don't like him. So I don't like msl. Caufield not on ice for his journey to the 50 gaols at the end also upset me. MSL OUT in my book.

It's a shame you don't watch it in french, as I don't think they show the player interviews on TSN, Dobes basically got onto the ice for his 1st star crying from joy and worked the crowd a bit, it was great

Some of the pressure applied in the second period was unbelievable. Dobes truly won them the game by the end.

Overall it was great performance by Dobes ! Man did he stand on his head after Staal scored. Matheson first period was great both goals were his fault he even scored the first one … Dobes is the Habs #1 goalie !!! Man I really want our little ball of joy (Caulfield) to win the Maurice Richard trophy 🙏 Thursday game is just as important as this one was !! Go Habs Go!!! For the goalie question you asked … Dobes has been solid ever since they brought up Fowler, Dobes has been solid and has been showing solid compact movement in his net the two goals he let in tonight were not his fault one was tipped in by Matheson and the other one staal was left wide open in front of the net he can’t be blamed for those two! For me Dobes is the guy for me!!
