In summary, we got a penalty killer a defensive minded defender in Murphy, a two ways forward in Dickinson and a body bander in Dach.
I don’t get it. Why didn’t Chicago just snag Mangiapane when he was placed on waivers? Probably a condition for acquiring the 1st.

I'm not super happy with a first rounder going but The problem with Mangiapane, ever single team and their dog has known for months that the Oilers have been trying to get rid of him so it would a given something like that was going to have to be added. Lets see how this works out.

The Oil makes some horrible moves, give up a 1st rounder for these two players is a big over pay in my opinion. Until they adress their soft as hell defense and their swiss cheese style goaltending they're going nowhere. I'd be hella pizzed if I were Micdavid, as the mgt is totally wasting his prime years. Dude is never winning a cup in Edmonton with that roster, it's kind of sad to see a player's talent wasted like that.

Oilers have the 2nd highest goals in the league. We don't have a scoring issue, We only have a goalie issue. Dump Nurse. Put an ad out publicly "oilers offer 5 million to any goalie that wants to win a cup for the remainder of this season." just make it public. This back room crap is not working. BUY A GOALIE FOR GAWD SAKES NOW. I realize its more complex than that, but we keep making moves that are not serious to actually win.
Can they put Nurse on wavers and send him down to Bakersfield ?
The Oilers also have Hutson, Samanski, Howard and others down in the A so we’ve got a future so the 1st rounder is not a big deal imo

10:30 I disagree. The fundamental problem with this strategy is that it involves "chasing a name" , after they've reached their statistical apex. The drop-off of players as they age is well know by statisticians, and only the most elite of players can hold off Father Time. Generally, you don't want to pick someone who was great 5 years ago (without putting severe constraints on their contracts – no NMC, no long-term deals). On average that kind of bet will not pan out. Look at how much better players like Savoie have turned out for us. It was worth taking risks on other players in our development pipeline instead of trading them out or having them sniped from us by offer sheets. One reason I like these Dickinson and Dach trades is these players do not have name premiums.

Well the problem is ardvinson and skinner. Anyone else. They keep getting former top 6 players and getting them to play bottom 6 roles. Which they never really played. Never works 😆 plus need knob to play bottom 6 more. Can’t do it with 2 lines
Dickinson and Murphy should address the defence a bit, and best case scenario is that Dach has the same impact as Podz. IMO it’s been a good deadline but we’ll see how it goes
