The Panthers had two three-goal leads in the third before Seattle came back to force overtime late.
Sergei Bobrovsky stopped all three shots in the shootout and Florida won 5-4. The Panthers led 3-0 and 4-1 in the third.
Nolan Foote, Eetu Luostarinen, Carter Verhaeghe, and Noah Gregor all scored for the Panthers. Vinnie Hinostroza got the SO winner.
Paul Maurice got a win in his 2,000th game; he started his coaching career in 1995 with the Hartford Whalers and also coached the Carolina Hurricanes (twice), Toronto Maple Leafs, Winnipeg Jets, and Panthers.
He is a two-time Stanley Cup champion in Florida.
The Panthers play host to the Minnesota Wild on Thursday.
