Larkin will be 30 in July. Let that sink in for a minute. 7 years in and not 1 game breaking talent in the entire organization. Only blue chipper has been ASP and he’s been completely underwhelming. He’s not even close to blue. We miss this year there’s a good chance it gets completely torn down, which honestly I’d do regardless. This team is dysfunctional garbage slotted 1-2 lines above their threshold. What are we doing…
If the Red Wings had 84 points in 70 games last year they would be 10 pts ahead of the 1st non-playoff team (Islanders) with a game in hand – and 9 pts clear of WC2 Montreal.
2 Years ago they missed out on a tiebreaker to Washington with 91 points. Montreal was WC2 last season with – 91 points. If this was the last 2 years the Wings make the playoffs going 3-8-1 down the stretch with our current point total… It's just a wild year in the East.
We are in 12th place in the NHL and are on the outside looking in.
I want and expect the team to make the playoffs – otherwise I agree this season is a failure. But I also can't ignore that if this was ANY other season in the last 5+ years they would have essentially clinched from where we stand with 12 games left.
They lose this, it’s over, Buffalo is a wagon, Jackets are jumpin, and the Flyers aren’t a pushover, they lose tonight, they may get pushed out before April even shows

Ottawa is a much better team than Detroit. It’s not close.
Rebuilds don't take 7 years. It failed 2 years ago.

Even if they lose and then miss playoffs if they keep losing Yzerman isn't going anywhere it's pretty obvious he has a lifetime deal
