Whatβs the path forward for the Edmonton Oilers to stay competitive and get younger? π€
On todayβs episode of Oilersnation Everyday, Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin are joined by NHL consultant and author Jack Han to break down how the Oilers can retool on the fly without taking a step back.
Jack dives into the importance of getting younger, faster, and more cost-efficient β and highlights potential value targets around the league who could thrive in Edmonton with a bigger opportunity. One fascinating name he brings up? Mason McTavish β a player who could benefit from a change of scenery and unlock another level.
From identifying undervalued talent to managing the cap and extending the contention window, this is a must-watch conversation for Oilers fans thinking long-term.
Can the Oilers thread the needle between contending now and building for the future?

Adam Ruzicka is 26 and looking to get back In the NHL, just terminated his contract with the KHL, 2 nd highest scoring player on his ex team
Worth a pro tryout
I was hoping they could have gotten McTavish from the Ducks. It would be harder to get him to fit in the cap now but he's a strong player.
An example of that would have been Sean Monahan several years ago. Just to illustrate, if the Oilers took a guy like that for 5 million, he didn't really turn out in Mtl, etc. So this plan isn't going to work any more likely than not work, is it?
Is he a goalie? No? Then he canβt help
Still think people are overreacting a bit over this season. This team has played an insane amount of hockey the last 3-4 years and we had to do a mini revamp. A step back this year was pretty expected.
Next year I think Savoie becomes a 60 plus point player though and well get a bounce back from most of the roster.
theY should get mcmann . he is perfect in 2,3 line role . he got more pts than our 3 additions together..
by the way pls fire bowman.
After watching that game last night against the panthers Iβm packing it in as an Oilers fan. They donβt deserve any more of my time or money this season. See you next season hope itβs better. What a circus and there needs to be changes. Leon called this out and Iβm with him !!
Wallman, and Nurse are both shit. Ingram is shit. Jarry is shit. Full of bad choices, bad passes and poor judgment.
ya the Jets arent average age of 31, so..
Bro Iβve been saying the Oilers should have gotten Mason McTavish this past offseason when the Ducks were dragging their feet on resigning him. His two way play would have fit as a middleβbottom 6 well.
You can't undo what Stan Bowman did to this team. The damage is real, and now it's measurable. Just look at the difference between Game 1 and Game 2 against Florida. With Skinner, we dominated. With Ingram, it ended in a 0-4 collapse. Ingram just stops the puck, but the last piece of this team's soul left with Pickard. That's the price of Bowman's vision.
