Why baseball players would chew tobacco

  1. Ray Chapman didn't get hit with a "spitball." The ball was so dirty from being constantly in play that he didn't see it in time to move. From that point on, baseballs were changed out the moment they became blemished. That unfortunate incident led to a necessary change in the game.

  2. Any chance you could do some actual research on the subject instead of a cursory AI overview rendition.

  3. To be clear, right before they banned it was the Spanish flu lol they banned it AFTER 100 million people died around the world lmaooo

  4. There’s a video out there somewhere created by MLB or the PA that was basically a PSA (player safety warning, obvs) against chewing or dipping.

  5. Buncha mouth breathers. I learned that people who work under relatively dusty conditions learn to strictly breath through the nose which allows the natural nose hairs to do their job in filtering out the particulates. Nose hair is quite annoying for those of us who have rapid hair growth but it’s so essential as a supplement to the immune system

  6. His wife killed herself due to grief and then 3 years later his daughter died from measles. Fuckin tragic man🤦‍♂️.

  7. Players chewed and dipped tobacco because it’s amazing. It’s the best thing in the world. I’d give up food before I gave up Copenhagen long cut.

  8. One little known variation was the shitball. They would scratch the crack of their asses then rub the ball up.

  9. EVERYBODY SMOKED… BABIES SMOKED COMING OUT OF THE WOMB….EVERYONE SMOKED but you weren't allowed to smoke during a game…..it is really THAT simple
