Calgarys new Arena district is and will not be in the same league as Edmontons. Edmonton has had a 7 year head start. Proof of concept is there. Edmonton district is proven. The Oilers are proven. The Flames arent. The Arena isnt.
Why do you guys even care ? Did you know that on the draft Van and Cal will not see top 4 pick states first then Canada unless Edmonton is in the mix then even if the Oilers were in the bottom 10 they would end up with with top 3 pick always Picks will be CB first st L 2nd NY 3rd then between Van Jets then Cal I betcha. These 3 stooges know nothing about business even when it's simple. Ownership groups bid for the right to host games and the Edmonton group put more money into their bid for the semi-finals and finals than Calgary did. Calgary could have and would have had the semi's and finals if Edward's was willing to out spend Katz to get those games. Instead of ranting, the 3 stooges need to ask Edwards why he wasn't willing to pony up more cash. Could be that Katz was willing to spend whatever it took to get those games and he has more money than Edwards. Moreover, the Oilers generate the most revenue in the league behind the Leafs, and the semi's and the final gives the Oilers exposure and adds franchise value. The semi's and final weren't awarded to Edmonton out of the goodness of the Bettman's and the other owners' hearts, it all came down to money.
