Roope Hintz Injury: Awkward Slip Causes Lower-Body Injury, Game Stopped
The Dallas Stars may have just taken a major hit late in the season after center Roope Hintz suffered a lower body injury during their March 6, 2026 matchup with the Colorado Avalanche.
The scary moment happened in the second period along the boards when Hintz became tangled with Avalanche superstar Nathan MacKinnon while battling for the puck. As the two players collided, Hintz slipped awkwardly and immediately grabbed his upper left leg, clearly in pain. Play briefly stopped as trainers rushed onto the ice. With the help of a team trainer and teammate Jason Robertson, Hintz slowly made his way off the ice and headed to the locker room.
He did not return for the remainder of the game.
Early reports indicate the injury could sideline Hintz for multiple weeks while he undergoes further evaluation by a specialist. The Stars are hopeful it will not end his season and that he could return in time for the playoffs next month.
The timing is especially frustrating because Hintz had just returned to the lineup after missing four games due to illness following the Olympic break, making this another setback during a crucial stretch of the season.
