I don't hate the trade. I like larsson. I hate the price. if you had to trade hall you need more of a return. this was a major blunder in this organization
Hilariously, before the draft St. Louis offered Edmonton Shattenkirk for Hall. You guys could have gotten Shattenkirk for the same player you got Larsson for. Those two players aren't even in the same league. This is a Chiarelli deal through and through. Buckle down, Oilers fans. It's only just begun.

I know it seems bad but as an Oilers fan think this trade could help us out big time. Chiarelli is not trying to take all the best players available and throw them all out on the ice to see what happens, he's building a team. Taking the best overall player is what the oilers have done for the past 10 years and we haven't made the playoffs, the oilers had great forwards: Hall, Eberle, Nuge, Yak and McJesus. Now think of any really good oilers defencemen from the past 10 years. We haven't had are defence has always been weak, and in actually building a team Chiarelli has had to make a compromise selling our 2nd best forward to another team for a top line player in a position we're weak in (he's also right handed, so he can play nest to Klefbom/Sekera). None of this really matters anyways, because on Friday we're getting Lucic from free agency. Lucic can easily fill Hall's place in the team, not as a sniper like hall but a big,physical guy to protect Nuge/McDavid/Yak/Klefbom.
Larssen is SEVERLY underrated. He's been a juggernaut shutting down all the top line parings in the NHL this past season when given the chance to step up. His point totals are low, but he also didn't see any PP time because he was busy eating up 22+ minutes against first lines and on the PK. Great sense of humor as well. NJ is going to miss him.

Oil fans have been sold "potential" since the Pronger trade….our patience for those trades ran out years ago. This is a move that should cost him his job. Epic Fail!

An elite player commands an elite player. Larsson is a good player, but he certainly isn't an elite player in the class of Hall. Even a junior B. GM wouldn't have made this trade.
Being desperate is no way to build a team. You have McDavid, a strong character player build around him. Larson appears detrimental to the Oilers future success. And who is this GM?? Wow I am shocked and saddened to see such A man in charge of this team.

If three years ago if you traded away hall straight up for Hedman I believe the reaction would be the same ,larsson like Hedman was highly touted compared to d man like lidstrom but both struggled to find game early on i think larsson can breakout on a higher scoring team like Edmonton
Hmm, a close to point per game Soft Left winger with supposed bad attitude problems for a very soft D man with no puck moving skills and little offense….. unless Larson improves at least 60% in his weak area's, and Hall turns out to be the biggest pos ever….. Jersey won this hands down. Prolly a bad to very bad trade short and long term. "City of Champions!"…what a farce.
