Rasmus Andersson TRADED To Vegas — FULL Breakdown | FN Barn Burner

Yesterday, Rasmus Andersson was traded to the Vegas Golden Knights, and Pinder and Rhett give a full breakdown of the deal — winners and losers, what Calgary got back, and how this move impacts the Flames’ long-term plan. They also look at what Andersson brings to Vegas, whether this trade makes the Golden Knights legit Stanley Cup favorites, and what it all means for both teams moving forward.

  1. lol whitecloud is not an actual 2nd pairing d. He's a serviceable 3rd. He will be a 2nd pairing on Calgary though lol

  2. Terrible trade that the Flames backed themselves into by their slow walk to the deadline with expiring contracts. Bad trade. The return is OK given there was only one team. Once again Vegas greases the skids and says here's our crappy deal. Take it, we're the only one, just like Hanafin.

So, if I'm Edwards, New Rule: No more expiring contracts after Nov. 30. And no more trades with Vegas. Not "go Vegas". It's FUCK VEGAS.

  3. Four pieces is still pretty decent, rental or not. Andersson wasn't Quin Hughes and not really an All-Star calibre player. I'm not sure if the Boston trade would have panned out any better, other than getting a 1st round pick this year. Mason Lohrei is good not great, and I'm not sure if Poitras is a bonafide NHLer. We also get a prospect that plays with Keaton Verhoeff and puts up good numbers in the NCAA.

  4. I'm fine with the return, rental or not. He was a 2nd round pick, and while he's been a star for the Flames he's not a superstar. Getting a 1st and a 2nd, a prospect that should be decent (Wiebe's been good in the NCAA) and a 4-5 defenceman on a high-tier team that is probably a 3-4 D on many other teams and that we can probably flip for a 2nd or a prospect at least, is very good. The chance of that 2028 2nd turning into a 1st doesn't seem highly likely as the Golden Knights do need to go through Colorado (or possibly Minnesota), but unless they face either Florida team in the finals, if they make it to the finals I'd give them agood chance of taking it.

We all know that the draft picks are going to be later picks, but look at how many very good players have been taken in the late 1st and 2nd rounds. Its entirely possible to find a diamond in the rough outside of the top-10 overall picks. If the Flames scouting can do a good job in evaluating things then I'd say the chances are pretty good that we'll come out with 2 players that will actually play for and contribute to the team. Fortunately the Flames scouting theses days is far better than it was in the late 90s/early 2000s when every pick seemed to end up being a bust.

  5. Cheer for us and we give you a bone if we win the Cup. I mean isn't that condescending to Flames fans. Here you go Flame fans. A booby prize if Vegas wins the Cup. What was wrong with a concrete return for whatever a draft upgrade is worth rather than chasing another pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

  6. This organization needs to stop trying to trick their fans into thinking there is value there. It’s a smart hockey city, we know what’s up. Stop the mismanagement.

  7. I'm actually okay with the return for Andersson. We achieved making ourselves worse for TODAY, enabling us to hopefully get a top 3 pick at this summer's draft.

Getting 1 (potentially 2) first round pick(s) is great in my opinion. I predict that next year and the year after, they won't be as good as they are this year because I'm pretty sure they have a bunch of older players in the top half of their roster.

  8. Vegas already lost the trade. Andersson already scratched for tonight's game against the Flyers!!!

  9. Did Ras screw the flames or did the flames screw themselves by not learning from the hanifin situation. Either Conroy is as dumb as Maloney & Edwards or he is just being controlled like crazy.

  10. Why didn't they get another asset/pick thrown in conditional on him signing a new contract in Vegas?

  11. McCrimmon probably made the same deal with Anderson as he did with Hannifin, he told them to tell people they weren’t going to sign an extension, that way Vegas can justify not trading in return what these players are worth. Then pay them a little extra in return for the favour.

  12. Weegar-Parehk
    Bahl-Brzustewicz
    Kuznetsov-Whitecloud?

Swap Parehk and Brzustewicz maybe, but let's get these young guys going. Assuming we keep Whitecloud for any length of time.

  13. So looks like we got rid of a player with a big head and got lots in return. A good Canadian kid Plus for a hyped up swede.

  14. Rhett thinking he signs for 4.5 is dirt cheap it's bizarre how Calgary fans, and media think our guys are worth so much more than they are.

  15. Love the show…..
But FOR FUCKS SAKE…..GET OVER THE MONTREAL PICK LAST YEAR ALREADY!!!!!!
    …….
" we coulda had blah blah blah blah".
Ya. And that kid could be a bust.

You whined and cried allllllllllll last season.
    Its done. Over. Move on
