Recap: San Diego Gulls vs San Jose Barracuda, 3.4.2026



The San Diego Gulls fell 3-2 to the San Jose Barracuda Wednesday night at Tech CU Arena. San Jose struck twice in the opening period to take early control, beginning with Patrick Giles’ goal just 3:12 into the game. Late in the frame, Quentin Musty doubled the Barracuda lead at 19:36, sending San Jose into the first intermission ahead 2-0 despite both teams recording eight shots in the period. San Diego turned to Tomas Suchanek in net midway through the opening frame, and the netminder settled things down while finishing the night with 22 saves on 24 shots in relief.

After a scoreless second period, the Barracuda extended their lead early in the third when Oliver Wahlstrom converted at 2:22 to make it 3-0. The Gulls responded with a push midway through the period, beginning with Tristan Luneau’s fifth goal of the season at 5:41, assisted by Sasha Pastujov and Matthew Phillips. Tyson Hinds brought San Diego within one at 13:27 with his fourth goal of the year, finishing a play set up by Judd Caulfield and Nathan Gaucher. The Gulls pulled Suchanek for an extra attacker late and generated a pair of chances in the final minute, but San Jose goaltender Laurent Brossoit held firm to preserve the 3-2 victory.
