  1. I think management has broken him. They never built a decent team. Fans were fooled by what ownership and managements had been saying. Even I bought into it a little. He needed to be surrounded by better and bigger players. Now even if he does get traded we would have to retain more than half his paycheck. He is at about a 35 45 point player. I have been a Petey fan and have dumped on him a lot. I think if he did get traded to a big team that actually has toughness he should be able to come back. It is just not Petey. I would have done the rebuild at least five years ago. I might be wrong but it is like the blind leading the blind when it comes to ownership and management. Quin was carrying the team for a couple years plus I think Petey is better off playing wing not center. I really do not think there will be any buyers. Unless they are hoping for a miracle. He could be a number two center somewhere. Even on team Sweden he set guys up and they missed almost all of his passes. So he still has something. I wish him well.

  2. I think something happened to him at the all star game… ya know the glory days, the one where every Canuck and their dog was invited to attend.

  3. Hughes was on the same losing team but he went out every night and put out 100% and carried the team every night even in a loss pettersson doesn’t even try

  4. 😪I'm sad for him. U know me… I'll take him! Detroit is like an incubator. Theres lots of Swedes around. It's just that contract. If Detroit pays that full contract there isn't going to be much coming back to VAN in return. Kinda sucky for both parties.

  5. Nobody talks about how bad of a job Rick Tochett did coaching Petey and the team. The coach ruined every players offensive creativity and confidence. Tik Tok is doing the same with his players in Philly.

  6. You can’t blame JT and Quinn for hating this guy and wanting to get as far away from him as possible. He’s becoming a Patrick Laine level cancer wouldn’t be surprised if he puts himself in the sad boy program soon and sits at home and feels bad for himself.

  7. Petterson can start by taking his frustrations out on the ice and not on the media…that's the only place where he can legally be angry and hit somebody.

  8. A lot of people are saying that this was a bad interview for Petey. What was he supposed to say? If he declines the interview that just looks worse. That would be giving a middle finger to the fans by showing you're not being accountable. This was an honest interview from Elias and he basically said that although his play has deteriorated (That's not a secret), that he hasn't given up and is working everyday to find his game.

  9. That contract was the worst one signed by the Canucks since the Luongo one. And that is including the Eriksson and OEL contracts.

  10. Just hope nothing like turn into Rick Rypien's situation. All I can see EP40 is losing the confidence to play.

  11. We don't even need to win for 3 or 4 years. We are rebuilding. Why the heck would we trade EP40 away at rock bottom prices now? The correct move is to get better linemates for EP40, like Lafreniere. We got time. EP40 also clearly said he has no interest in moving. The ownership already has a toxic reputation so they aren't going to force players out when we aren't even trying to be competitive, like how they forced out Kuzmenko's NTC by putting him into the 4th line.

Just sent a 4th round pick to NYR and we will get him. Lafreniere wants out of NYR badly and a rebuilding team like the Canucks with no immediate need to win is the perfect place to regain his confidence. And NYR just wants to get rid of his contract.

As for "Why Lafreniere", we will be looking for discount deals like these. We are not going to sign some proven talent for $11m a year. Even if we offer them $11m, these players aren't coming to a bottom tier rebuilding team. Lafreniere is also a physical player, so can help ease the pressure off EP40 on the line.

Grab bad contracts, get picks, and see if any of these guys can reignite their career here with EP40. 2 birds in 1 stone. If not, we are rebuilding anyways and doesn't need the cap space right now, so it doesn't really hurt us.

  12. EP40 needs a sports psychologist or a motivational speaker to get around his mental block on playing the game. A change of scenery will not help, he will carry his inabilities to a new team.

  13. As a Wings fan I look at Vancouver as a cautionary tale. Wings fans want Yzerman to make a big trade. Make a splash. Make the….. Playoffs. Vancouver did that. They made the big trade for Hronek. They made other big trades. They had a good team for a year…. Almost good enough…. And now. Fans don't like to wait for their teams to win but in hockey especially, if you want to see your team actually win, you don't have a choice. It took Tampa Bay 10 years AFTER drafting Stamkos and Hedman and trading away St.Louis and I think Lecavelier too. Montreal is doing about the same as Detroit give or take after a massive fire sale following their Stanley Cup runner up. Florida took their entire 30 year miserable existence. We are in year 7 of the rebuild. This SHOULD take at least 5 more years…. Minimum. If successful Larks will retire a Stanley Cup champ who brought the team back to glory and he will train under Yzerman to take over as GM one day and do this all over again.

  14. Pettersson new capitan, Hronek A Blueger A. Jett Woo was traded to Sharks for Jack Thompson RH D. We wish Jett all the best we hope Thopson comes to A team and does good job herre. Young man can move on the ice well. Kudryavstev should be here now.

  15. 57pts/gm over past 2 seasons.. 2nd line pace (2nd line wingers roughly makes 5-6million).. if the Canucks don’t want to retain any salary (as the vid suggests/hopes), they’ll have to offer 3-4+ 1st round pics to any package involving Petey
