I keep asking this, but you guys need to talk about the elephant in the room. Players don't seem to be willing to come to Detroit for some reason. Trouba blocked the trade because his wife, then accepted a trade to Anaheim the same. That made it seem like the wife's job part was BS. Ehlers told Yzerman "No" before he even had a chance to make an offer. Ghost left for the same money elsewhere. Myers either blocked the trade, or is holding it up because he wants to see if any other teams make an offer. Aka.. he'd rather not come to Detroit. Panarin only wanted the Kings. Thomas has a full NTC. He gets to pick where he goes, if he gets traded at all. If he goes to Buffalo, it's because he preferred Buffalo. It likely has nothing to do with Yzerman. Pettersson seems the most likely, because perhaps playing with a ton of fellow Swedes might be attractive to him.

If they don't hear anything by the end of Wednesday I would surely be looking at giving up that trade I'm going after Vinny trocheck.
I would not give up Bear, Nygard, etc. you have to remember Kane, Van Reimsdick will need to be relaxed. The improvement needs to come

if Myers is an option why not go to toronto for OEL? He'd be a great 2 pair d not matter if he's left or right. He's had a good season, played great at the Olympics, is two years younger than Myers, can move the puck, has term 3,5 million cap hit. Is it because he's in the same division?

Detroit has done an admirable job of building talent from the scouting and farm system – no doubt. But they fail to make the most of that by using some of the youth in trading for even one or two top players (Debrincat being the exception). Watching this year after year is painful. The management is like the guy going out to the club hoping to pick up a lady, but the first 3-4 hours of being there he's busying himself getting rightly loaded. Then an hour and a half after midnight he looks around the club to find a lady to try to pick up. By this time, 90 percent of the ladies have left for the evening, and there are really not any appealing ladies left. Maybe a handful of gals, but the bar is nearly full – of other drunk guys sitting around lamenting that there are no babes in the bar.
This seems to be the pattern they're stuck in. We all really hope they'll surprise us this year, but how much hope should we really hold out? Good luck to us all, and – LGRW!
Is Thomas good? Yes. But he’s quickly become one of the most overrated players in trade discussions. Look at his numbers? He’s not a scorer. He’s had one good season and one very good season. But most importantly, he’s not a guy that stays healthy and he’s already had a surgery this season. I’m fine giving up a first, a top prospect and something. But two firsts and two top prospects like many are speculating is insanity for a guy that by all accounts STL should want to keep and build around, yet are happy to move. Big red light in my opinion.
Players have to want to play here. Redwings are not Stanley Cup contenders. If we trade its not gonna be a superstar its gonna be depth.
Honestly…at this point Yzerman should just call Toronto, tell them they blew their shot and offer Kasper, Bear, Augustine, and a first for Matthews.
Word is Buffalo is offering Powers, Helenius, and a 1st rounder… I don't know if Yzerman can match that without killing the prospect pool… He'd have to put a package together with Danielson, Kasper, and at least one 1st rounder and probably another prospect like Carter Bear… I mean I wouldn't mind the trade, but the team also needs a dman

Bottom line if you dont play your prospects in nhl you dont know what you have. They'd be better off sitting 2 or 3 vets and playing prospects because if they dont get anything in the trade they aint doing nothing in the playoffs and they might not get in the playoffs with how well the top 5 teams are playing. So what's the hold up? Something has to break here, either you suck ot up and trade danielson, and kasper or somebody else already at the nhl or you play your kids because they're running out of time with larkin, with all the tread on his wheels, maybe he plays another 7 years at a high level maybe its only 5 but by 34/35 he's on the downing, baring some medical miracle. His game is speed, once he loses that he's stamkos with Nashville minus the scoring.
Blues want too much for Robert Thomas. With all due respect to the player I doubt any team will meet those unrealistic demands that are floating around the various channels. The term "Blockbuster" is way over used and Yzerman is too smart too overspend.

I know a new Locked on Red Wings podcast hasn't been posted yet so I'll post here and then there later… Just gave up 2 goal lead and then ultimately lost in OT to VGK… I love this team but Larks goes down and no one retaliates or dusts up with someone??!! We are soft and weak! I doubt Yzerman will do anything big at the trade deadline and we will limp into a playoff series and get steam rolled.
