Also just for full context Malkin took a hard slash to the hand right before that situation went down and had to take his hand off of his stick and shake it. So then they go to the net he also gets a few cross checks in the back. Doesn’t excuse anything but I understand the frustration, especially with no call on the slash.
Genos last suspension was for cross checking a guy in the head and it was 4 games… just why now. Probably gonna be somewhere around that many games again! not good! We already dont have Sid. I dont really agree with that goal being GI I know we're frustrated but I just have to be honest Dan Muse is genuinely not good at these challenges. A lot of them have come after a play is already reviewed which is not a LOW percentage challenge its a NO percentage challenge. We have to understand that the interference has to be conclusive and when you have Letang pushing the defenseman towards Silovs which he definitely was theyre gonna rule that the push caused the contact there is a ton of precedent for this which is why I was very surprised when we went for the challenge. I never for a second thought that goal tonight was gonna come back. Even If Letang isnt fully pushing the guy THROUGH Silovs he is pushing him in Silovs' direction which makes it near impossible to conclusively prove interference. Some of the past calls have been questionable but not really tonight.

I thought Letang pushed the Sabre into Silovs, or at least didn't give him a way out. I've been surprised at some of the previous Pen's challenges being lost, but this one I was pretty sure wasn't going to change anything.
I couldn't believe Kindel's penalty and thought it was on the Sabre for hooking him. Lizotte was a standout and showed how valuable he is to the team, especially with Sid and Geno out. Based on Geno's history, I would say he could be suspended for quite a few games 🙁
Kindel wasn’t called for hooking, he got nailed for high sticking. He was trying to lift Owen Power’s stick and missed and his sitck clipped Power in his visor/face. It was 100% a penalty. Agree the Refs stunk something bad 👎
Well, Dan. . .you said it all. . .It was ugly indeed. I quit watching after the goalie issue. I went to play Phasmophobia. I just got really disgusted with the overall attitude of what was happening. Your analysis is exactly how I felt. I will try to catch you tomorrow, but I have some errands to do, so I may miss a good bit of your broadcast. Kindle blows. Being a rookie isnt an excuse for NOT making the playoffs. Hes a -3 in this game had he not been lucky enough to be on the ice for Rustys goal. He got yanked off the 1st line after only one game and theres a damn good reason that hes not on PP1 in the last 50 games. Even with 71&87 out. If Trocheck is your 3C theres no question that they make the playoffs. Kindles done enough "growing" for one season. Get Trocheck, put him at the 3C position, and send 81 down, if you want to make the playoffs and have a shot at a deep run. If not, you failed Sid in what is most likely his last shot at post season hockey with PIT.
dahlin needs to go play in the PWHL. The REFS SUCKED as per normal. I swear the league is bias towards the Pens for goalie interference. The PK 👌, dahlin😭

No playoffs. If they drop into wild car contention there is no way they're getting in. I didn't think they'd end up getting in all along though.
