The NHL Trade Deadline is rapidly approaching. This Friday many NHL players will be dealt across the league.
There are plenty of rumors swirling around the New Jersey Devils right now and what General Manager Tom Fitzgerald will do.
The 2025-26 NJ Devils season went off the rails and they are expected to be mostly selling at this deadline.

If Nemo gets traded Im actually gonna lose it, the only valid way id ever trade him would be for Quinn and not be upset, (besides obviously like a bonafide superstar Jason Robertson or smth but we all know that’s completely out of Fitz’s competence to do. However, he’s probably gonna trade him for someone whose 30+ years old which back when we were winning, sure, I have no problem with that, however NOW trading for Stamkos would be ridiculous, and especially trading our young players. Fitz needs to prioritize the future considering this year is a wash. Fitz is 100% gonna double down on Dougie and deal Nemo for chips guaranteed. Fitz needs to be fired into the universe.

Knowing that Brady and Matthews might be available in the off season Fitz better not move Nemec. They need to trade pieces add draft capital

My sleeper pick is Kovy getting moved. He’s “out sick” and Boston is interested. I agree that a few D man will get moved. As much as i deeply wish Mercer was better offensively he is a body and a swiss jack knife iron man that we sorely need considering our lack of depth, and is an incredible bottom sixer, he’s just overused. If we trade Glass im gonna be inconsolable I’ve loved him and the energy he brings since the start, 100% AGREE WITH YOU Trading him would be STEPS BACK, making Tsyplakov our three C and trading glass would make our team exponentially worse. Also since we’re so bad rn and this seasons a wash I think we need to prioritize selling older players and prioritize our younger players, because clearly we can NOT go all in we’re not good enough. Prioritize the future. Also agree with you on next season. Sorry for the absolute mass influx of comments, management and Fitz and this deadline has me so riled up, he’s completely incompetent is going to ruin not just the present of this team but the future too so we’ll eventually have another 10+ year rebuild soon.

I have no expectations. The level of uncertainty and likely disappointment is high.
You cant dish Cody Glass. Hes the type of player you need for a cup run. The cheap player who's out playing his contract. IT allows you to keep the stars paid and happy.

To me the goal should be to move some older dmen to gain as much cap space and assets as possible. Then try to impove in the offseason. But I fear Fitz might do something dumb
I've never been so detached with this team. Until Fitz is gone I don't expect anything very positive, he's proven time and time again that he's incapable of building a competitive roster. He has handcuffed the team with his contracts/NTC. If he's here next season I expect more of the same, track record doesn't lie. That said, keep up the great content Ace, it's the best part of being a Devils fan right now.

Just read a report that the devils are linked to Connor Garland trade talks. Another 4'2 featherweight. If this happens I swear I'm going to drive up to New Jersey and thunderkick fitz in his freaking booze clown nose. Also Ace markstrom was never an amazing goaltender. Look at his numbers. He was good but he was never super elite. Maybe for a season or two, but he's been overwhelmingly average throughout his career. I think we've just been so far away from good goaltending that anyone with decent numbers looks like a god in the crease. NEMO>Dougie in my opinion. If one gets traded
I agree, all they can do is shift assets and look to make a big boy trade this offseason. Im just dumbfounded that we’re even in this spot considering the start to the season yet last year’s collapse was also a gut punch so shame on me i guess. We ate up the fools gold. I mean ever since the 2024 offseason there were fans upset with no top 6 addition and here we are in 2026 and… no top 6 addition. That alone should have fitz lose his job, then you add the fumble of quinn and the mismanagement on the books it’s just a disaster. We’ve been saying for about a year now “Nico is not a lock to stay and we need to show him we’re serious about winning” and yet here we are. I just want an offseason where i open my phone and go “Holy shit, WOW” but i seriously doubt fitz is capable of knocking my socks off.
Its gonna be interesting to see what Fitz does this trade deadline, if he does anything that is which i dont think he is but i also heard we are taking calls on nemo and glass which i hope doesn't happen because i think both are doing great with us.
Honestly I’m not to worried about who the devils get at the trade deadline but all I know is that we need some more physicality
I don’t mind being buyers with a non playoff year as long as the player fits our age and has term. Buyers for next season and beyond I’m cool with. If he makes trades for a playoff plus that’s just wasted assets
My thoughts: 1. ACE, love you brother. 2. My non trades-Pesce, Hishier, Glass, Gritz, Hamennaho (I probably butchered that), Jack, and Bratt. May seem eh, but each are strategic necessities.

For the game tonight, we should stay with Markstrom. He’s been hot after the break, so why put Allen in? Allen is good but I also think Markstrom can definitely keep this save streak going.
