One of the dumbest game winners this season

The Detroit Red Wings get away with a pretty clear trip but that’s why you play the whistle lol because there’s no call and they get going the other way and pot the game winner. That and more in today’s NHL hockey video!

  1. The amount of hockey YouTubers putting out vids on this who seemingly don’t know the rules is hilarious. NHL rule 57.1 Tripping – A player shall not place the stick, knee, foot, arm, hand, or elbow in such a manner that causes his opponent to trip or fall. ACCIDENTAL TRIPS WHICH OCCUR SIMULTANEOUSLY WITH A COMPLETED PLAY WILL NOT BE PENALIZED. Funny how no one seems to take into account this part of the rule which means that Kasper hitting the puck before taking out Josi’s legs by the rules is completely legal. You can be angry with the rule itself but it is not a NO CALL. It’s absolutely the right call every single time per the NHLs own rules. So what is it Eck? Do you not know the rules of the sport where your job is to make videos on it or do you actually know the rules but made this video purposely to draw up controversy and clicks from dumb fans who don’t know the rules? Either way it’s pathetic and I wouldn’t expect anything less from a Canadian who is a fan of the biggest joke of an original 6 franchise who is currently tanking

  2. I was annoyed with it. But the past 2 games for us have been rough. We had a goal called back for a BS goalie interference call and had a ref ignore a boarding penalty in the stars game. Both happened to Bunting, which is just the worst. Someone needs to take accountability for the refs and fast.

  3. If not they're not going to allow challenging trips like that, they may as well not bother with challenges for offsides…

  4. This kind of blatent missed call has happened at least 3 times this week and 2 of them this one and the Ducks game led to goals.

  5. Got to do a ducks breakdown, have won 5 in a row. Cutter may reach 40 this season and sennecke has been a beast. And please breakdown mctavish shootout it’s so 🤢

  6. I've seen people say that because that was a play on the puck, it's not a tripping call.

  7. If you think this is a penalty, why should people even go for the puck. Just throw yourself at the opponents sticks and fall down

  8. A lot of people seem unaware of rule 57.1: "Accidental trips which occur simultaneously with a completed play will not be penalized."

Kasper's stick got trapped between the boards and Josi's leg while Kasper played the puck. Since it looked unintentional and happened alongside a completed play, the refs actually got this one right.

  9. In football(soccer) this goal would never count, because refs would use video review and call it back. Fair game. Why can't we have this in hockey??

  10. Definitely a "Refs you suck" moment … at least we'd do that in the Capital One Arena. I suspect it isn't the only place that happens.

  11. When the refs make a mistake against the Red Wings, they have to just deal with the power play or goal against and keep on playing. Complaining doesn't help. But if they can't give up the unfair cost of bad calls against them, then why should they give up the benefit of bad calls in their favor?

  12. There is no reason to get another goalie, Wings fans are hoping for Sebastian Cossa to get called up. He has been playing incredibly down in Grand Rapids

  13. That was not a trip. He skated backwards into a stick that was already there. Trips are made with intent or offensive aggression- not a dumbass not minding his surroundings and falling. Cool story tho

  14. As a diehard Red Wings fan, I’ve seen us get screwed out of stuff like this more times than I can count. So, I dunno. What goes around comes around.

  15. maybe it's risky in a playoff year but I think the goalie solution should just be to give Sebastian Cossa some playing time, the kid is incredible

  16. The Bobrovsky situation is pretty interesting. He is 37 but he is a goalie so it matters less than for players. Still more injury prone but also putting up prime performances. Bobrovsky really carried Panthers to that first cup. I don't really know what I'd do here. With 10 million it's a lot for a goalie. But Panthers have such good contracts it doesn't really matter for them as it would for a normal team.

  17. Why the hell would Detroit trade for a goalie when they've got Cossa looking about as NHL-ready as you can get? That's just creating a cap problem and a roster log jam that might force you to get fleeced down the line.

  18. Preds defense otherwise was pretty lacking in this game on the back of a stellar performance by Saros.
