  1. Monahan has been bothered the whole season by some injury (as our local tv crew tells us) so I am looking forward to see what he does after the break with some time for that to heal. He was great last season.

We are in pretty good shape and I don't think we have played our best hockey yet so should be a fun stretch run.

  2. oh, how cool that you would repeat last year's resolution and hang a CBJ flag if we make the playoffs! I sure hope that comes to fruition. Johnny Hockey forever! I think Zach's golden experience will motivate both him and the team around him to perform even better in a Blue Jackets uniform.

  3. I feel like it's important to mention the team's stats after hiring Bowness.
With Bones they are 10-1-0, tied 3rd in Goals/game, tied 2nd least goals against/game. special teams % has slightly improved. There's been a major swing

  4. Definetly hope they make it this season and then do well in the playoffs. It does seem like they've found their drive now and their so close to breaking into the playoff line too.

  5. If the Blue Jackets miss the playoffs this year it falls solely on Dean Evason. He single handedly lost the team like 7-9 games in the third period alone this season. That could be all of the difference in this tight of a conference and division.

  6. Some interesting stats to look at:
Merzlikens' record before and after Bowness
Sullivan's TOI use of Werenski vs Hughes in the Olympics and their Olympic production per 60.

Coming off a season where goaltending was seemingly the weakest link for Columbus, Greaves' decent save percentage but average W/L record certainly is the tale of the tape leading to Evason's firing.

  7. All remaining games for the CBJ are in the eastern time zone. Underrated component of the final stretch run.

  8. I don’t understand how Columbus a team that has never gotten out of the second round and has a much lower chance of even making the playoffs somehow has a higher chance of winning the Stanley cup than Montreal? I know it’s just stats from the athletic not you Shannon and I know it’s only 1% but it doesn’t make any sense to me

  9. Coyle's been a fantastic surprise. Voronkov has been a good goal scorer who just has to take fewer penalties. KJ is my only concern … love him, but he has had a down year. Severson deserves credit for a good bounce back year. Elvis was actually playing a lot under Bowness for whatever reason, but there were a lot of back-to-backs down the stretch. I have confidence in Jet, we just need to be patient if he makes a mistake here and there. It's been pointed out that Sillinger has been much better under Bones.

The team stats looks mediocre because we were sinking under Evason, but we've been great under Bones, so they have evened out. The Goals Against has been a night and day difference. They are holding leads now and playing much better in front of the net. I'm excited for the rest of the season!

  10. Mateychuk is werenski jr .. watching fill in when z was out you can see what he has learned being on the same line… When it clicks in a year or two he'll be dangerous.

  11. Bodied Mackinnon off that puck and then a sweet dish to J. Hughes, combined with his point totals, and his smooth skating and puck handling should win Werenski the Norris

  12. As a kid who grew up a Jackets fan, I want nothing more than this team to succeed and capture some of the crazy fandom that is prevalent in OSU football. A playoff run is something we desperately need for not only the fans, but for the players to want to stick with the project.

Always appreciate you covering the CBJ content even if it doesn’t get as many views as other teams.

    Thanks, Shannon!

  13. really hit the nail on the head with this one. if it weren't for our "performance" in the 1st half of the season, we might have room for a bit of getting back into it after the olympic break, but if we want to stay strong contenders for play-offs it really is do or die. Either way I'm excited to see where the team ends up next season, accolades or not, with potential new coaching if bones leaves and any new trades coming our way. appreciate the video!

  14. Pittsburgh likely falls off a cliff with Crosby set to miss around 1 month. Makes sense that CBJ might sneak into the playoffs. Looks to be a tight race with Washington.

  15. It's worth noting Columbus has five games between Boston and the Islanders the rest of the way. Those four point games are ripe for the picking.

Crosby missing a month could help Columbus as well.

  16. Werenski deserves the Norris. He's ahead of all other defenders in points, is clearly the MVP of his team, and plays great in all zones. Controls the game like few others.

  17. God i hope the break didnt kill our momentum. I really hope Zach helps bring the fire for this team with that gold.

  18. Hard for a mid-season coaching change. I'm looking forward and see what changes Bones has made in this mini break he was given.

  19. The only time I remember the power play being consistent was when Sam Gagner played there. Panarin, Atkinson, and Dubois did some damage, but I think we've always been hoping for more

  20. I really appreciate when you make CBJ videos. I know they probably aren't the best analytically but I love them everytime
