  1. Soshnikov had a rather serious concussion. While he's recovered, I have to believe this brings down his value somewhat. I'd have rather seen a higher pick, but now that the Leafs actually have scouting and development, maybe a 4th isn't the 4th of years past. This also creates a bit of breathing room on the roster as the Leafs were at the 50 allowable contracts. Prelude to a more significant deal? You never know with Lou.

  2. The blues will enjoy him, he is a quite guy who will produce enough as a third/fourth line player. As a Leaf fan i would like more for him but all that means is a higher pick maybe

  3. Leivo like sosh isn’t a keeper i would take a 7th for him if that is all they could get. Clearing their contracts is worth it.

  4. Sosh's hockey IQ has been terrible in the nhl so far. I would like better asset management but I don't see him being great

  5. This makes me sad…Really liked Soshnikov.

He was one of many rookies/marlies introduced to us at tail end of that tank season 2015/2016. Don't let his career stats fool you, He's too good for the AHL, Is he a top 6 forward? Probably not…Is he top 9? Maybe…Fact is we didn't see enough of him to know, All I know is he is fun to watch, Isn't scared of anybody although he's not a fighter, Has a wicked release/shot, Can skate well, Good two way player who can PK and works hard and is a great kid off the ice as well, he has some potential if used properly. I personally don't think he's any worse than Zach Hyman or Connor Brown, Just couldn't find a spot especially with all the "injuries" he unfortunately suffered or else Babs woulda used him more. I was hoping he would replace Uncle Leo as he plays a similar style to Komarov but at least he'll get a chance to play now.

Goodbye Sosh, I hope you succeed T_T
Please take care of him Blues

  6. The feeling I am left with isn't if we got fleeced or if we got a good return, It's about not feeling like we did right by him, Maybe I get too attached but felt like he was a bit mistreated the last few months here 🙁 lol

  7. Well, the writing was on the wall in terms of the Leafs eventually losing one of their forwards. The Leafs get a draft pick for a player they would have lost via waivers. The Blues get a forward that will probably be able to fit in their bottom six.

  8. A 4th rounder was exactly what I thought they would get for Sosh. I like the guy, but he has a bit of an injury history

  9. This is the price when everyone knows you NEED to trade someone. Got fleeced, unavoidable though. GL with him Blues. We always like Sosh.

  10. Looking at his stats now. Dude played 3 games this year. 3! He scored 0 points. Ya how could I have never heard of him before? He played in 3 fucking games and did nothing. I'm not a real fan.

  11. This is a good trade for both teams. St. Louis gets a serviceable young player with some grit and a half decent scoring touch, and the Leafs clear a contract spot by moving a player that was perhaps 15/16th on their depth chart and dropping. Good hockey trade.

  12. They will regret this one big deal. They should have dealt Leivo. Soshnikov is the most versatile type of player. Hes very fast and skilled and can play in a top 6. He is reliable and responsible in his own end, finishes his hits, tenacious with a wicked shot. Its tough to get him in a good role with the depth but he should be taking Komarovs spot. I SUPPOSE Babcock wants leo around and hell get resigned otherwise whyd they ever deal sosh.

  13. toronto ran out of time to get the proper value for him but they also needed to unload a contract as the were at the max of 50 contracts as they want to acquire a right hand defense man

  14. Honestly disappointed to see him go and even more disappointed we got such little back for him. We have too much talent to play people like sosh, lievo and martin but I wish we could have got more.

  15. Sosh is an NHL forward. Chara gave him a concussion last year and he has only played 3 NHL games since. He may need a bit of time to get his full game back. Typical 4th liner. He bangs and crashes, good speed and chips in with the odd goal. Heart and soul guy. Too many players in Toronto and too many contracts. Leafs probably didn't want to make this trade but had to. Good luck in St. Louis Sosh.

  16. This is good deal for soch and the Blues. The Leafs have lots of young talent in their system with more on the way, they can't keep them all , another trade or 2 like this wouldn't hurt the leafs going forward

  17. As a Leafs fan I wish we could've got more. I thought that Sosh was worth a second or at least a third, but we didn't have much of a choice so I'm not surprised

  18. Fair deal, I'm not sure why people were looking at soshy like he was worth a second round pick. He is a depth winger, who is fearless decent on the pk and can play up in your lineup but not for much time. He gets injured a lot. I think he will be well liked in St Louis, but do yourself a favor blues fans and keep you expectations low

  19. I wonder if Calgary could get kapanen for a third or fourth Calgary needs a winger and I think kapanen would work well

  20. Nobody won the trade (Yet) Soshnikov was a decent player but we need to free more room for our roster spot, Plus you never know what the 4th round pick could turn into Hunter could use his Magic and turn this pick into a late round steal! I hope Soshnikov does well in St.Louis but right now nobody won the Trade, let’s find out who wins the trade in the future.

  21. As a sens fan, I hope that we get roster players and prospects back in our trades as I think we're just having an off year and we can come close to the playoffs in the upcoming ones, so if we trade away all our players for no return, it's wasting Karlsson, Stone, Duchene, and Hoffman while they're in their prime.

  22. Aims to be seen how he will do. I think the guy has potential, but he hasn't had much opportunity to show it and this gives me a bit of doubt about him. He should work out well, but I'm not expecting him to be a game changer.

  23. Bad trade for leafs. This guy needs to play and will be good. Get rid of Martin, Leivo and Leo.

  24. Blues fan here. Leafs fans, what can you tell me more about this guy? He worth the 4th rd. pick?

  25. As a blues fan I like the deal but I disagree with what you said in that we're going all in this year. I don't know what Armstrong has in mind but I personally don't believe we have a good enough team to win the Stanley Cup this year, especially looking at teams like Nashville, Winnipeg, Boston, Vegas, Tampa, Pittsburgh, Washington, etc. I think we're a good team in transition building for the future that's just not quite ready yet for that last step we've never been able to take. I see this team personally as sort of the hockey version of the 2015 Chicago Cubs, an exciting young team that wasn't quite ready to go the distance. In the next few years, look for the Blues to make a big dent in the playoffs

  26. Soshnikov is a guaranteed NHL player, but the leafs didnt have room on their roster for him and everyone else. I mean, theres plenty of forward depth, still would like to see Miro Altonen have a shot sometime this season.

Also, this puts toronto at 49 spaces.

Who wins the trade? St. Louis, but its a trade Toronto can afford to make

  27. Although both teams improve their situations, the Blues win this trade although it was a small trade. Leafs are now not at max contracts and get a small something in return. Sosh in my opinion will be a top nine forward for maybe two or three years (may prove me wrong) and is certainly not needed at this time on the Leafs. This is a marginally small loss in terms of trade value for the Leafs but will most likely be forgotten about as bigger trades occur near TD.

  28. I really like this as a blues fan 😀 i remember liking him playing in leafs and i hope so hope he gets a shot in blues.all i can remember is the two wristshot goals he had.man if u have that shot u need to use it

  29. good deal for both sides. as a leafs fan I'm glad we got a pick for a guy that couldn't make the team anyway.  also Leafs had 50 contracts, now down to 49, so they are able to pick up someone before the deadline. hopefully a top 4 D.

  30. A fourth rounder is all that could be expected given the circumstances..however i think value wise a third rounder is more fair.I think he will be a pleasant surprise for Blues’ fans. Was never really given an offensive role in Toronto so I think there is some real potential to breakout if given the opportunity in StLouis..

  31. I feel bad for Soshnikov. I remember when he came up in 2015-16 there was talk about how he'd be this big star and the Leafs mismanaged him. Hopefully that changes in St. Louis

  32. Stupid, stupid move by the Leafs. A move they are going to regret. 4th round pick=like 90% chance they are never playing in NHL.

  33. Nice assessment of the deal.
As Blues fan living in Toronto I've seen a lot of Sosh and know the Blues need a shot int he arm a little.
I think this is a deal that sets the blues up for a little more movement at the deadline.
Good deal for us I think..If Sosh can stay healthy.
