Andrei Vasilevskiy Struggles In The RVH : A Goaltending Breakdown

In this video, I break down a goal Andrei Vasilevskiy gave up while playing the RVH (Reverse Vertical-Horizontal) and explain why this situation caused problems—even for one of the NHL’s best goaltenders.

Using slow-motion video analysis, I walk through Vasilevskiy’s post integration, depth, RVH variant choice, and Alternate options, and show how small technical details in the RVH can lead to goals against at the NHL level. This breakdown is meant to be both an analysis of the goal and a teaching tool for goalies looking to improve their own RVH execution.

Whether you’re a goalie, goalie coach, or hockey fan, this video will help you understand:
• When RVH works — and when it doesn’t
• Common RVH mistakes goalies make
• How elite shooters exploit RVH positioning
• Technical adjustments goalies can use to prevent goals from bad angles

If you enjoy in-depth goaltending analysis, NHL goalie breakdowns, and goalie coaching content, make sure to like, subscribe, and share.

  1. Hey man, love your channel. I have an idea for a video I’d like to collab with you on if you’re interested. My channel is mainly gear reviews, but I dabble in technique and analysis sometimes as well.

  2. What'd you think of the goalie fight this game (plus it also my birthday i turn 14 yipe)

  3. Hey man! Really love the content! Are you still accepting video footage submission reviews? I'm trying to get someone out to my game to come film but its proving to be harder than expected lol

  4. With the lack of pressure on the shooter, and the increased amount of goals we see being sniped top corner on short side, I can see why a goalie may lean towards defending the shot more in that first situation

  5. Vasy is the best goalie in the NHL hands down. This is coming from a Leafs fan. Seen lots of him over the years. Tampa is one of my fav teams to watch Vasy and Kucherov are absolute Demons!
