Do the Montreal Canadiens have to react?

If teams like the Detroit Red Wings, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Boston Bruins decide to add talent, does Kent Hughes need to counter?

Are the Habs buyers? Cautious buyers? Or staying patient with the long-term plan?

Shaun Starr and Marco D’Amico break down:

The current Atlantic Division pressure

Whether Detroit, Tampa, or Boston are likely to add

What assets Montreal could realistically move

The risk of overpaying at the deadline

And whether the Canadiens are truly in “go for it” mode

Is this an arms race — or a patience test?

Drop your thoughts below. Should Montreal make a move before March 6th?

  1. Honestly i want our team to do nothing . I live our team ,we got lotsa years gor cup runs …unless Rob Thomas at a decent price but that wont happen …Go Habs Go ..Love your show guys!!@

  2. Again, great takes from Marco…

Detroit will move at a minimum to please Larkin so he doesn't attack Yzerman for not trading like he did last year… and also because they want to win during the Larkin window (upcoming 3-4 years)… Robert Thomas would be the perfect fit on that team.

Montreal and Buffalo have a 6+ years window (Suzuki and Thompson era) that could go beyond… they don't need to panic while both teams are still learning. Buffalo will likely sign Tuch with the same purpose Montreal signed Evans last year(not saying they are equal players) to boost the team morale in the last stretch.

  3. No moves coming thank u for getting on board finally we listening to the gm now if someone is there for the right price but no one on trade deadline is a good price

  4. A bad trade is a bad trade….

Lets hope that Montreal doesn't do something knee jerk just to be seen to be doing something…

  5. React to what?
Run with the guys you have.
TB has zero cap space. Detroit has $50 million in space.
The Bruins have 3$ million in space.
Montreal has $1 million in cap space.
Buffalo has $5.8 million in space.
Hopefully next year we have some cap space and can make some moves if we have to.
