  1. How did we go from needing defense to looking at a goaltender?? If the defense isn't up to par a guy like Bobrovsky isn't going to help. Square up the D first!!!

  2. Pass on a 37 year old goalie the defense needs to be addressed more. plus both of the sharks goalies have been decent this year and not the problem it is the defense.

  3. If olympics proves anything, it’s that Macklin is as good, if not better than how good we thought he is. The pressure is on to get him appropriate linemates and d-men sooner rather than later – but not a goalie

  4. Besides Askarov, the Sharks have Nedeljkovic and he is have a better season than Bobrovsky. I’d even argue significantly better since Ned is playing behind a very suspect blue line and Bob, on the other hand, behind one of the league’s better ones.

Such a move by the Sharks only makes sense if Florida is giving up something so SJ will take the contract off their hands. Or, maybe a third team has offered up an enticing trade proposal for Nedeljkovic.

I put this trade suggestion to Google AI (laugh if you must 😎) and it suggested the Sharks could actually receive assets back (picks and/or prospects) for taking on the contract. But, if Florida is punting the season, this wouldn’t make any sense as the contract is up after the season.

    I just don’t see a match here.

  5. I just do not see this happening.

    – They already have Ned at a much lower cost and costs nothing to keep but cap (which they have a ton of right now)
    – Bobrovsky will cost to acquire and the Sharks need defense more than a goalie so I think they will be spending their assets there
    – He is 37 and on the decline and will most likely he will be good for a season or two so it does not fit the timeline
    – If they spend more than a middle round pick then they have overpaid (not something that GMMG does) as he is not that big of an upgrade for the cost
    – This is a move that is made if they are making a cup run, not making a playoff run, so it is way too early for a move like this

There are other reasons, but I will admit him being Russian is a good thing but is not a big issue and yes he improves the goalie position but if this is at the cost of Askarov's development then NO.
