  1. I am happy that the Leafs have signed Rielly my concern lies with the overall core of the team. It seems the core has trouble performing especially when it matters. My biggest reservation feeling is, is this core good enough to make the playoffs?

  2. Does this open up the possibility that Muzzin gets traded to open up a spot for Sandin going forward assuming this team does not rebound this year..I know Jake has a ntc but between him and Kerfoot that would free up a lot of cap space.

  3. This is really gonna upset Ron Matthews. He's commented 43 times that Morgan Rielly is going to walk for nothing at the end of the season.

  4. Reilly next year gets his 5 million gets Kessel 1.2 million that takes him to 6.2 million and Kerfoot is going. Where leafs have to get value is RICHIE That’s key

  5. Am I the only one who thinks this is another terrible deal by Kyle Dubas? Morgan Rielly hasnt been the same the past year and so far hes been horrid. Another 8 years for an already aging defenseman? At 7.5 mill per? It may seem like good value now, will it in 5 years?

  6. Interesting take APH? It certainly will be difficult and costly to dismantle this team when the time comes. I don't see how they continue forward beyond this season with the core four forwards. Something has to give.

  7. Ownership would not have allowed Dubas to give that contract if his jobs on the line. It’s clear indication that it’s on the players, not management. If they lose this year either Marner or Nylander is gone

  8. Terrible take. How do you take a good player at good term and spin that to be a bad or selfish thing? This whole time we've been saying sign him or trade him.. and we signed him

Honestly, I don't think anybody's job is on the line. That's just leaf fans being overly emotional and reactionary. Put the blame where it belongs, on the star players who are still young, and still have to learn

  9. Hi Andrew – glad you love Dubas. No love here. He's wrecked the team by poor cap management. Vegas showed that the way to success is by having solid 2nd line players throughout your line-up. Leafs have a few highly paid "stars" and then a bunch of marginal NHLer's. Easy to play against because as MTL and the Leafs' opponents this year have shown, all you have to do is play hard defense against the stars, and the rest of the time you're playing against a pretty weak bunch. Leafs have no depth.

  10. One more guy locked up on a team that can't get it done. The more things change the more they stay the same, by that I mean Leafs flaming out year after year.

  11. Andrew, I gotta say, your theory is the only one that makes sense to me. Question is, if it's a dubious contract, can ownership nullify it?

  12. 👏 good signing and good "toxic" take. I'd just like to see 3 certain players go elsewhere. Would love to see a top 4 rd man come our way for cheap, lol. I know it's a dream.

  13. This deal is great. 5 players at 58% of the cap?! Very bad especially JT and Mitch. Matthews earned his. Willy is on a good deal too.

  14. Given that you can’t make amendments to an existing contract I am really curious just how a no move could be in place before the contract kicks in.

  15. Reilly has a lot of mileage on him… those brotal uears with the LEAFS… Look at what Muzzin looks like now… over used.

  16. one of the big 4 contracts are definately moving by next year, im talking one of the forwards

  17. Like the signing, and can live with the terms, given the crazy contracts given out this past summer. Smart to shut down a major distraction. Simple math says either Marner or Nylander have to leave after this season, so it seems that will be the new distraction. Leaf Nation evenly split on Rielly, some say keep him, some say trade him. Bizarre that he gets his deal after playing a horrible game in Chicago.

  18. Another bad Dubas signing. Hopefully this offseason after another year of failure ownership rebuilds, starting with management.
