  1. Why wouldn't they want to rebuild faster by tanking? I have stuck with them FOR yrs and will continue to but lets not deny that tanking doesnt speed up the procress and it also will get you high end talent. (i know they are worried about ticket sales bc they call me EVERYDAY to get tickets and I wont until i see them winning more)

  2. 100% Porter Martone was the correct pick. He was the guy I wanted all along, I did not think he was going to fall to us. The closer and closer we got to the draft I had this sinking feeling in my stomach that if we took James Hagen's, he was not going to pan out for the Flyers for some reason. Why I don't know. I just had a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach.

After that, because of the fact after the top 10 all the rankings were different and there were no consensus on players just a big mishmash of the next 40 to 50 players all in one giant soup tier. I wanted the Flyers to trade up in the first round and take as many shots as they could at players that they were very very confident in. So I walked away from draft night very very happy. The only thing that I thought could have been better, was taking one of the 22nd pick and two of the second rounders to move up. Then do that again 2 seconds and the 31st pick and move up again. But I will admit amico, Murtagh, and Vansaghi are all better selections than I thought we would have gotten in the second round. So color me and impressed

  3. Nesbitt comment is what detractors say. The flyers had too many picks this year to use them all. They gave 2 to get one back. It only cost them 1 pick not 2! And they had extra sitting around. They are not ready to load up on signings yet, so using them for trades to get established players isn't practical. Let them trim the cap for next year like they have been saying all along.

  4. I agree with Kelly – the goal should be to be like Dallas or Carolina in that every year they are truly contending. I don't want to be the type of team that hopes to get into the playoffs because "anything can happen" if you make the playoffs. True, anything CAN happen, but the chance of actually winning the Cup when your team just hopes to make the playoffs is minimal. I want to have a legitimate chance, not just luck.

  5. I think the GM problems go back to Holmgren. He had a lot of bad trades and asset management. Granted, he did have some good trades, but I would say he had 2 bad trades for every 1 trade. He killed the salary cap by the time Hextall showed up.
