Would Chychrun have accepted $7.5m? Absolutely not. Washington bought CapFriendly. They know what the market value is. Chychrun agent knew that this summer, other than Marner, he was the top free agent. Washington wanted Chychrun when he was in Arizona before he went to Ottawa. Then they traded for him from Ottawa and he's had a career season- Washington has wanted to extend him all year but obviously had to wait for the cap projections and get the goalies signed. Then it was all about keeping this roster together and getting this deal done. If Washington could have signed him for less, they would have. With Rantanen and likely Marner off the market this summer and every team having a stack of cap space, someone was going to offer Chychrun $10m x 7yrs because 20+ teams are going to have $20m+ in space, someone was going to have to get that salary cap space. Who else is on the market? Nobody comparable to Chychrun.

When Paciorety comes back you can slot him in on line 2 or 3 and bump down any winger you want. Laughton cannot fill the 2C spot. The wingers on 2 and 3 are pretty interchangable.
But the key to balance is separating Matthews & Marner and get Willie his own line. Matthews scored 69 with Domi on his line a big chunk of the year, that's how Max got him contract in the first place. He's a great passer who is physical, gets pucks and makes space. Max and Knies forechecking and Domi being the set up guy will work, and that's a physically strong line for the playoffs. You can do Willie, JT and Marner but for balance I like to separate Willie and Marner cause they're both better with the puck so they shouldn't be paired. You can switch which one plays with JT and whichever LW is playing best gets the 2LW spot.
Not only is Ovi going to break the record (probably this year), he also has a chance to be the only 900goal scorer by the end of the season. This guy has a moderate chance to hit 1000goals by the time he retires!
And he's like 280 hits from being 1st all time.

If Matthews can stay healthy look at his goal per game, it’s better than Ovie’s, Ovie never head a 69 goal season either so can Matthews stay healthy and have the hunger and have Marner feeding him pucks 🤔🤷♂️
What hurts Ovie rightly or wrongly compared to Crosby lost all those battles to the Penguins and got only 1 Stanley Cup so he ain’t making to 5 all time greatest players plus Ovie had way more PP chances and way more PP goals then anybody add 70 plus ENGs , It’s Gretzky 1, Mario 2, Mr Hockey 3, Bobby Orr 4.
