  1. Remember when Babcock tried to make the players play heavy and tough? Yeah, that worked out eh? So we'll have another coach go that direction.

  2. Having already lived through "Babcockmania", there isn't much to see here. If Keefe was the real reason that the Leafs crapped out in the first round, then isn't Berube the reason that St. Louis missed the playoffs altogether? In Toronto, reason and logic becomes whatever it takes to fit the narrative that "great things are just around the corner". Although no one wants to admit it, the problems with this franchise run are deeper than anything that can be fixed with a press release.

  3. A hard coach that calls out soft players, lmao this should go real well with this charmin soft leafs core😂😂 can't wait to watch the 1st round exit again or even better if they miss the playoffs.

  4. Not sure how Berube's gonna ask a high offensive team like the Leafs to play heavy defense…? Also who's gonna be the Leafs goalie next season?

Also, you can't just 'forget' about getting it done in the regular season, because if you don't get it done, then you won't make the playoffs…

  5. I think Berube will help instill some 'heart' in the players… we have a lot of skill but not a whole lot of heart… we routinely get pushed around by teams who don't have as much skill but are abundant in a thirst to win

  6. Fascinates me that North Americans cannot/ will not pronounce the name CRAIG correctly.
    You all say “CRAG”. Why?

When water falls from the sky, do you say it’s RANING?
    Nope, it’s RAINING.

    So you can say it…
    Please say it.

  7. Covid destroyed blues 19/20 season. We had a great shot at repeating. Binner doesnt get hurt in '22, who knows how far we go that year. As a blues fan, finally winning the cup is amazing, but we had a chance to do so much more. Then armstrong played hard ball with petro, and things have been sideways since.

Our roster changed into a group that doesnt really fit berubes style and along with binners antics and just a flawed roster, his patience wore thin and the team just didnt respond anymore.

He will give the leafs a kick, but i dont think it will take long to figure out if its the players or the coaches.

  8. Rearranging the deck chairs on the titanic. Nothing changes until the roster does. These “stars” are butter soft, that stays the same.

  9. Should have hired "unnamed coach" from Letterkenny (Mark Forward).
Sure he has anger management issues, at least then that would have been more memorable.

  10. I Love SDPN and love the Steve Dangle podcast. I'm an English hockey fan and Leafs fan in particular. What would it say about the Leafs if they went into the next season with Shanahan still in his job?

  11. If the Core 4 stays expect the same result with Berube – a 100+ point regular season, Matthews chasing 70 goals. Nylander getting close to 50 goals and Marner finally getting over the 100 point mark.
    Same playoff results as well.

  12. I have to say, the prospect of Berube with the addition of Savard as assistant coach, coupled with the rumblings of Marner getting traded for Saros (I think a straight up Marner for Saros, 1 for 1 trade isn't the "best" deal the Leafs can muster, but getting a solid goalie is assuring), makes me incredibly optimistic and hopeful for this franchise. We all have known for a while that the Leafs need a change, and this certainly facilitates that need! What an off-season this could be! Thx for the upload 😀 😀

  13. He sucks! News flash don't have a goalie that's going to win the vezina. Don't have 3 large skilled defenceman who play 23-26 minutes a night. Talks about

  14. Coaching wasn't the problem In toronto. The fact that we make the playoffs seems to skip ppls minds like we are entitled to a cup. Ownership needs to want a cup not just make money like a business for a team to win a cup. Leafs make enough money to just be happy with a first round loss every year. If that wasn't the case Shanahan would have been gone b4 doubts.

  15. As a Blues fan I love Chief for what he helped to in 2019 and the years after. If Toronto has the horses to play defense and the forwards buy into the back check he demands you should be in good shape. God help the Leafs if the players won't buy into to the defensive scheme.

  16. Leafs need a lot of changes to compete / beat the teams now playing in the 2nd round. A new coach won't do much until the team is shaken up to a play playoff style hockey system

  17. No more buying jerseys or buying home tickets until:
    – Removal of Marner and Tavares
    – Removal of Sheldon Keefe + staff
    – creation of a leafs supporters club where members hold a minority stake in MLSE
    – Make available whole sections of scotiabank arena where tickets go for 50-150 dollars for a seat. This is based the on common prices i see for the upper bowl of a decent size music concert. Charge the lower bowl whatever you want still.
    – create standing areas that allow for casual viewing and an "ultra" atmosphere like in soccer… where someone isnt "shushed" for singing and dancing
    – sell jerseys for less than 80 CAD.

  18. Why announce it on a Friday afternoon? Usually that’s when you announce bad news and hope it gets buried?

  19. I can put it this way. Berube being fired was the first time that I can remember that a STL fan base absolutely and vocally disagreed with a coaches firing. Kyrou made some offhand comment the game after the firing and got booed every time he touched the puck the next game. As a Blues fan I would happily still have Berube as our coach. I think the Leafs got a good one. I hope they let him actually coach in the way he wants to.

  20. As the core four goes, as does the team. Coach doesn't matter. Even if you trade Marner, what are you left with? Tavares and Matthews have proven they're not leaders.
Marner's the only one of the 4 that ever showed a bit of heart. He will succeed on a different team.

  21. Putting Craig Berube in charge of Toronto is like putting R Lee Ermey in charge of an Art Class. No amount of yelling or strategy will change what he has to work with.

  22. I wish the Lightning had a Steve Dangle. Buddy has an encyclopedic knowledge of his team thats quite impressive.
