Keefe was a good coach and he will have a good career but the “can’t score in the playoffs” has a lot to do with coaching. If you are good enough to make the playoffs you have a decent team. If the opposing coach puts in place defensive systems it is the job of the other coach to make adjustments. Instead it not only continued game to game but series to series. I like Keefe but this firing was way overdue. Players underperforming in the post season is on the coach! That’s his freaking job to get the best out of the roster. Games where Toronto dominated in the playoffs were rare. Entire games—important ones they didn’t even show up at all. The coach was responsible for holding players accountable if they didn’t perform. Nothing changed. A perfect example of this is how Brodie was handled this year. Play the whole season before he finally did something. PP? Did it improve? Did he make critical adjustments that made a difference? No. Offense failing every year was simply another example. Fans blaming Marner are missing the freaking point. The whole team generated almost no offense or chances at times. Everyone underperformed. That’s on the coach. Very simple. If a new coach can’t get results then you look at moving players. But the entire roster failed it wasn’t just one player. Nylander was -11 last year so stop this nonsense how he’s a playoff player. He played 11 games and -11?? That’s Ryan Reaves level bad defensively. A playoff player plays on both sides of the hockey rink.

It s nonsense to fire a coach every time something not going well he got Marner injured never got back to his normal doing then when the play offs started he had Nylander out for 3 games and then Matthews out for 2 games in that playoffs you have to have some fortune to make it they have had none

Unfortunately, I think Shanny will keep his job. He is the Leafs Captain Sobel. Making terrible decisions and blaming others for his mistakes.

keefe will get work somewhere. motivating leaf players needed big time . play or gone is required. that will mean shanny out also.

I do think personnaly the staff above are more responsible what did happen lately to your beloved Leafs. Change the entire top management instead of small guy below. Since 1967 the Leafs have been at a stand still since. That my own view the Leafs never progress ever since.
Shanny should be gone as well-this team isn’t nearly tough enough to go all the way.Even if they had beat the Bruins,the Panthers would have ragged doll the Buds in four games.
I feel like Shanahan won't be fired but given another roll not hockey operations related to the team. Also Keefe despite not getting to the next level, is a Class act hope to see him coaching in the NHL again very soon.

Classy move by Keefe. I think he's also feeling a sense of relief. A few days ago people wanted his head on a platter. Now he's chilling at the lake with his family. All in all, not a bad change.

Shanahan has had gift after gift after his playing career, the stint at the league and then president of the Leafs, despite not being able to demonstrate anything beyond mediocre success. I never want anyone to lose their job, but if Keefe took the fall for the team, Shanahan should too.

The regular season is so different from the playoffs … with the way penalties are called (or not called), you almost need a different kind of team to win (in the playoffs). To me a penalty is a penalty, regardless when in the game or the season /playoffs. The "argument" that the refs can't decide a game is sheer BS … the referees don't take the penalties, they should just call them! It is the players that take the penalties. It is them that "decide" the game.

In my view. Keefe will be the scapegoat and I fear they will run it back, hoping that a new voice is what they needed. For whatever reason, that core can not get it done. Something else has to change.
