  1. He’s done an amazing job the top players needed to perform and they didn’t Willy was good though and Matthews but not enough from Reilly and marner terrible

  2. I have complete faith in Treliving. Just look at what he did in Calgary, he turned a contender into a bottom feeder in about a year an a half

  3. To me, this year is what I'd call a "tryout year" for Treliving and the Leafs. He was brought on late, too late to make any major changes to the roster, and brought on BECAUSE they didn't want major changes. So he stuck with the core, brought on his own pieces for what he'd like the team to look like in the future, and gave them this year to audition for the future of the Leafs. A lot of his moves paid off, some of them didn't. I don't think the Leafs were ever gonna be cup contenders this year, but another first round exit definitely puts into perspective where priorities need to lie in the future.

I agree with what you guys said: this off season is REALLY what will define him moving forward. If he can find those crucial pieces and make those tough decisions, he just might be what's able to finally put this team over the hump they've been stuck on for nearly a decade.

  4. No.

He made the old mistake of hiring an old guy [ J.T.] to lead the team.
Hiring old guy worked in 1967 (Red Kelly) BUT the game has changed !
How well did Own Nolan work out ?

He let Dumbguy hire Matt Murray and The Senators were happy
to cast the burnt-out out. He let W. N. wreck the chemistry of the TEAM
2 years ago with his incomprehensible greed. They missed out
on a great chance to go deep in the playoffs because the team did not
gel as a unit from September because W N. did not play until December.

The proof is in the pudding.

It is time for A. FRESH START ! ! !

  5. tre has teams that won 3 rounds and the Leafs have never won 3 rounds in over 50 years. hate the handcuffs Dubas put him in though. got 4 out of 5 players that worked out. Klingberg was an omen to the playoffs injuries, eh

  6. He was consistently a trash GM in Calgary for almost 9 years despite inheriting a very strong rebuild. And was somehow even worse in Arizona before that. Treliving has been failing upward for the past decade. I really don't have any faith in Brad Treliving considering he has been one of the weakest GM for his entire career

  7. I mean judge Tre’s time in Calgary all you want. But it’s a whole different game out there and was his first gig.
He built an elite D, and not to mention it’s a lot harder to get guys to sign in Calgary (without over paying), let alone keep them, compared market like Toronto.

  8. Dubas traded away all the picks and prospects for a run last year. They won one round. The cupboards are empty and Tre made some good moves and signings with what he had available. As a Calgary fan and Leafs fan(1st), I saw this guy make some bold moves. He isn’t afraid to pull the trigger on a massive trade. Be aware of that when he has some options available to him.

  9. This is coming from a GM mode Nerd. You really need three goalies. And when I say that I mean minimum what you want is a franchise guy a high-level backup + a young goalie that can turn into a backup if you need them. Exactly like what Vancouver did. We had demco true Elite starter, we had silovs a backup that was young that will probably turn into a legitimate starter and we picked up Casey deSmith who's a very good backup. Especially considering you can get backup goalies that are okay-ish for League minimum. There's no reason not to have wall as a 1B, pickup a 1A and pick up two league min goalies who can play at the NHL level if needed. There's always a few goalies you can get for basically nothing. Even if you have to trade like a six or a seventh round pick, I'd much rather have a goalie than a pic. And even if they can't get rid of Tavares if they can trade Marner for something like a Thomas Chabot they could use that last little bit of extra cap to resign guys like Domi and bertuzzi

  10. I think Treliving is being setup to trade away a big player, and in this case it's probably Marner for some other 29 or 30yr old player, just like the Tkachuk trade in Calgary…

I also like it how this panel is saying they'll re-sign this Leaf, this Leaf, and that Leaf at discount rates even though some of them are UFAs…

  11. Are they suppose to be that already?😄 Lets not talk 💩 The Leafs have suck ASSES that need to go.👨‍🍳

  12. The Leafs are a contender – in that they successfully contend enough to at least make the playoffs. Why not just be content for who the Leafs are? 😀
