  1. I don't see Tavares or Marner waiving their NMC and since Shanahan's got one year left on his deal I see them running it back one more time until they can get rid of Tavares' $11 Million, Marner's contract, and not renew Shanahan's deal.

  2. Buy Mitch and Tavares out and move on – if they won’t wave.

They each have 1 year to go. Both of them get giant bonuses on July 1st – then their salaries are cheap. Tavares would cost $303,333 this year and next, while Marner would cost $258,333 this year and next. you'd actually save a little less than a million bucks next year.

You’re stuck with their cap hits next year no matter what. But you’d be able to go and get two better contributors and test them in big roles by spending Brodie & Samsonov money to pay them – then the following year, you’d have almost $25M in cap space to continue the progress they’d move on with next year.

I’d rather pay them all the money now and be able to move forward and find better, long term solutions starting next season – rip the expensive bandaids off ASAP – if you don’t expect either one to be on the team in 2026

  3. I don't see leafs getting better by flushing the current stars and trying to start again. It's too early to dismember the team, because the only people eager to listen are the fans of other teams here to gloat.

  4. The Leafs are backed by the corporate crowd and that all they care about, the true fans that can't afford season tickets are just the great unwashed to MLSE! Toronto needs a NEW NHL team. This one unfortunately has sold it soul to the dark side.

  5. JD, great show as always. James is always a great guest too…As I'm sitting here amazed that the Leafs weren't eliminated in 5 games, I'm thinking they're going to do absolutely nothing at Friday's presser other than possibly get rid of Keefe (and I have my doubts about that).

The reason I say this is because the precedent has already been set by the Toronto Blue Jays last year. They piddled through last season letting the children run the asylum. Then they perform the cu**ter**ck of the decade and pull a pitcher that was throwing fire early in the last game of their season. What did they do after that nightmare? Pretty much nothing. And guess what? Everybody's back to watch the Blue Jays with nary a word being said.

Back to the Leafs…A good percentage of Leafs's's's (sorry, didn't know when to stop) season's tickets are held by corporations, so they're not going away, and the rest of us will gladly line up to overpay to see one or possibly two games a year, because that's all we can afford (are the beers over $20 apiece yet?).

If they do anything, some of the lower level people may go, but I think the "shittaplan" maybe around for another year…

    Keep up the great work.

  6. Until fans boycott games and stop paying extortion prices to watch games, this will never change. Boycotts work, when you hit their bottom line, they are forced to listen to the fans. I’m a die hard Leafs fan for decades, stopped going to games and buying merchandise, saving money and time on useless games that in the long run make money for everyone else except me. Especially for a product that isn’t worth it.

  7. Toronto desperately needs that stud goalie would make a world of difference for thos team

  8. they are right there. the boston series was hard fought, the difference is the leafs had weak goaltending and boston's goalie was on fire. the leafs finally realise you become contenders with big tough defencemen in the playoffs. with cade webber potential joining next season as brodie and giordano will be gone, the leafs defence will be stacked with size and toughness. fraser minton along with knies, domi, dewar, reaves and possible gregor, their forwards will not be push overs. if woll can show his a starter ,the leafs will finally be a team with skill and toughness that can roll 4 lines just like the bruins who by the way will be contending for the cup finals.

  9. What do expect, they aren’t going to say anything negative about there teammates , it’s been 8 years changes must be happen if don’t expect anything different next season

  10. Lose in the first round. That's a D right.
Offer Marner $5 Million for 5 more years and then he'll go his own way.

  11. Why can’t you give him a contract, but refuse to give him a NMC and do a 10 – 15 team.

  12. Mitch is a regular season all star. When the playoffs come around he gets very scared, many times he wouldn’t forecheck into the corner. Marner is not a playoff guy and it’s so evident now.

  13. why do we have to get receycled coaches all the time. there has to be others that have accomplished merits…….

  14. I think they could trade to Utah for Valimaki, Crouse and a first round pick.
Josh Norris, Chychrun and a first from Ottawa?
Marner to Calgary for Markstrom , a second and Mangiapane?
Dylan strome, Trevor Van Riemsdyk and Kuemper?

  15. Two guys bothered that some people might not be getting upset and being negative about a sports team.

  16. If i was marner ill just say ok ok ok and not waiving finish my contract and leave without giving nothing in return to the leafs

  17. lol I bet he stays he said it he's god here the sad part is if he even played half like Darcy Tucker people would be going nuts and leave his Mitch as$ alone>

  18. Bunkis is a spoiled fanboy who has a hissy fit when things don't go his way. A lot of hockey markets would love to have a team as talented and successful as the TML in the regular season even if it didn't translate to postseason success. At least Sammy takes it like a man once in a while.

  19. The fact that people want to hire Quenneville is stupid… the dude oversaw a team that abused their junior, he should be never even named as a possible candidate by any NHL team. He can rot for all I care. We have plenty of better coaches to choose from in the NHL…. on second thought he is exactly the coach for the Leafs lol

  20. I dont know how effective Brindamour would be coaching outside of that crappy style of hockey Carolina plays. I think he's a touch overrated.

  21. as a leaf fan, I love watching the regular season and have no expectations for the playoffs…..how happy would we be watching a team that plays the trap….

  22. None of these guys in this core have ever had a leader to learn from. Look at Boston. Any new player came in had Bergeron and chara to learn how to play the right way. He’s being absolutely crucified but who’s actually stepped up. Matthews ? Reg season stats that’s it. What he done to elevate his team last a round. Nothing. No one is any better than the next guy on that team
