  1. Center and elite talent is definitely the need for the Flyers going forward. Frost had an average year this year and he's looking like an average 2nd line center who puts up 50-60 pt center; which is not bad, esp. where he was drafted at 27th overall in 2017. Considering you got both Farabee and Frost for Schenn all those years ago, I think the Flyers won that trade overall, but it did change the timeline of competitiveness, since Farabee and Frost weren't ready when Giroux and Co. were. Coots, I think will be better next year, after a fully healthy off-season, and he's an excellent 1st-line center, but unless he really is the nice iteration of Patrice Bergeron, who can play at that high level until he's 37… well how many more great years will we get out of Coots? 2-3? I love that Laughton is a home-grown, hard-working utility player, but I think he should be moved next season to a cup contender, as his value will only decline as he gets older. Unless we're willing to wait another 5 years, I think the Flyers should try and get out of favor prospects or prospects who need a fresh start from other teams. Guys like Alex Turcotte (injury riddled development), Arthur Kaliyev (out of favor), Dylan Holloway, Philip Broberg (requested a trade), Lias Anderson (Laughton replacement), Victor Soderstrom (top prospect D-man with slow development, finally NHL-ready), and Barrett Hayton (Jack McBain emerged and took his role due to Hayton's injury). Both Turcotte and Hayton are highly skilled centers; arguably Hayton is ready now, and Turcotte needs more opportunities to play given the center-depth of LA (Kopitar, Danault, Byfield…). Kaliyev could be that elite sniper, we need on wing, at the very least, he's a NHL depth scorer, likely to get 20goals/season, Holloway could be a Gauthier-lite and needs a chance he's not been getting on the Oilers, and Broberg and Soderstrom could be top-pair D that the Flyers since need. And if not these players, then maybe an Isac Lundestrom, Nick Robertson, or Oliver Wahlstrom would be available. There are definitely players out there who I think could be had for less than a 1st RD pick, and who might have high-upside, or at the very least, who's floor is a solid, useful NHL player, who fits the Flyers timeline.

  2. This relates to the previous mgt, but we're seeing that Schenn become C at StL and Ghost becomes the PPQB the Flyers have lacked, Giroux remained a productive player whereas Atkinson didn't. Even Goudas has prospered after leaving the Flyers.

  3. Under previous mgt, the PP suffered from giving up prematurely on Ghost, who turned out to be a keeper and who they got nothing for.
