  1. At this point, it's whoever gets along better with their teammates. Personality is way harder to fix.

  2. I feel like both are purposefully playing like shit and have a secret pact with the Canadians. The Canadians will offer a late draft pick and get the Flames/Kings to eat half their contracts. These two will suddenly remember how to play hockey once playing for Les Habitants. It’s going to happen.

  3. Pierre Luc Dubois at least is slightly lower cap hit at 8.5M versus Huberdeau's 10.5M and Pierre is slightly younger.

  4. The last time Dubois tried was in game 1 of the first round for the Jets that year. He was mega. But knowing the scapegoating bunch of little b1tch3s in the Jets locker room, they probably blamed him for the loss and he just gave up. In a way I feel bad for him. It's possible he's just had a run of really bad luck with locker rooms.

  5. PLD can be relatively cheaply bought out because he has lower signing bonuses and since he is 25 it’s only 1/3 of his salary. Huberdeau is buyout proof. Huge difference.

  6. Huberdeau might not be producing but at least he's trying. He works hard so you at least he's by far and away better than PLD.

  7. It’s not even close – look at the buyout structure of each contract. PLD has a very favourable buyout structure, Huberdeau’s is abysmal.

  8. I always ask, and it's the same with high draft picks, are they working their asses off to improve? Or do they put more effort into living the lifestyle that playing hockey affords them?

  9. Huberdeau's contract will go down as the worst in NHL history. An absolute albatross of embarrassment

  10. You guys are talking about Huberdeau like he could maybe get back to 65 points in a season, and you could settle for that as a fanbase. PLD has NEVER scored 65 points in a season. And he has given no indication that he’ll top his career high during this contract.

So yeah, just stick it out with Huberdeau. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if he got to 70ish points again at some point.

  11. On the surface the Huberdeau contract looks worse until you actually look into Dubois' past. Garbage on and off the ice, Lazy as hell, not always liked by teammates, and completely uncoachable. Not many contracts I'd want less than huberdeau but that is one. And it's not even close.

  12. Edmonton fans over here thinking, Darnell Nurse.

Mind you, Nursey has at least been a serviceable 2nd line Dman this season. But 9 million AAV though???

  13. Huberdeau has a history of being a good player. PLD has done nothing to warrant his contract outside that one series in Columbus.

  14. Both are terrible contracts but it is not Hubies fault. The fault is a major one and it belongs at the feet of Treliving 100%.
Treliving offered it and Hubie took it. Of course he did.
At least Hubie is trying to do his best. He is playing like a team player with full effort.
He is a quality guy in a slump that is probably not going to get a whole lot better.

  15. Flames need forsberg,dubios, duclair,husso,stamkos,marner,Petterson, guentzel, debrusk,geaudreau,Monahan,
Tkachuk and need rid of the youngsters and prospects

  16. The flames need Giordano, jarnkrok and derek Ryan as the flames need to be much stronger in the nhl, need to be more consistent
