  1. I have a hard time thinking Kent would give Marchessault 9M +,
    Maybe a 3/4 years at Suzuki’s number.

If not then they’ll probably pass.
We’re stuck with a ton of money at RW already but would love to have him

  2. Next year's UFA class is way better. Signing Marchessault is a plain old bad idea. Too old, too small, too expensive. Nope, nope, nope.

  3. The Habs [CANNOT] sign Marchessault because for one reason, [WHY] at his age when we can get a player at less but close to his production & the savings can pay another [GOOD & UP & COMING D-MAN] instead of getting rid of them just for clearing logjams? What the Habs are faced with is [MANAGING MONEY] more than available players who speak French even though, I respect the value of [LANGUAGE]. The Habs history with a balancing act of [LANGUAGE/MONEY] has had downfalls & we look at the Dennis Savard/Chris issue that still [LINGERS AS A HUGE FAILURE] so {LETS BE CAREFUL & DO IT RIGHT} so we can [EXTEND OUR CUP HISTORY] or at the end of the day, [IT DOESN'T MATTER???] or does it & lets just do the [FRENCH THING] no matter? We [MUST DEBATE THIS] inclusively with where we are & where we are headed?

  4. Stay with the PLAN !! BUILD the team for the long term …Big…Skilled…Tough…and Young TOGETHER !! RENTALS ,USUALLY DON'T WORK !!!!

  5. Id love signing Marchesseault but the timing isn’t right, if he goes far with Vegas again, even win a cup with them again … it will play heavily in his decision to stay or not with them.

He would also probably make a lot more money signing elsewhere then Montreal because of the taxes alone … a lot a lot more if you consider how cheap Montreal was historically with forwards.

Id be shocked if he’d sign here, at a discount, with the crazy amount of taxes, after a Conn Smyth and a 40 goal season.

  6. No big signings this year. Maybe a 2nd/3rd line vet like mantha or Henrique. Finish bottom 10 again and get another nice draft pick. Then go for it next year. We’ve waited this long, let’s do it right

  7. David Perron would be a better option. He's going to be signing a 2 year contract at about 4.5. That's manageable for 2 years. What people fail to understand though is that summer 2025, Habs have Savard, Dvorak, Armia, Petry, Evans and Allen's contracts expiring which will give them plenty of cap space (38 million) even with raises to Slafkovsky and Guhle they should have roughly over 20 million in cap space at that time. Signing a top 6 vet for 2 years max this summer is a no brainer except if they can get someone better in a trade which is very unlikely except if people think they're going to trade one of Guhle or Reinbacher, then the best option is free agency. Playoffs or no playoffs, they seriously need to bring in a top 6 player for there second line. People who think Habs can get Necas live in Lala land, no way you are getting Necas for late firsts, Harris and a few AHL plugs. That's just not realistic.
