We're hamstrung by the salary cap. I love Stammer, Kuch, Vassy, Hedman — but they all come at a huge price. You cannot win a cup with 4 star players and a mixed bag of OK players. It may be time for some of them to move on, especially due to age. For those who want to yell at me, every team goes through a rebuild phase. I'm afraid for the Bolts, its our time. If Stammer goes, we have lots to thank him for him. But it's also Hedman who is up there in age and we can't win with just Kuch and Vassy alone. We need players to stop asking for so much money so we can afford all very good players, not just 3-4 really great players and some farm team players. Its just a fact.
Stamkos needs to remain a Bolt for his entire career. He's a true leader both as a hockey player and as a man. I am proud to be a Lightning fan partly because of how classy Stammer and other leaders on this team are.
