The Toronto Maple Leafs have completely imploded during these NHL Playoffs. It started with William Nylander missing the first 3 games, then Mitch Marner having a terrible performance, Auston Matthews not finishing the 3rd period of a must win game all paired with questionable coaching and poor goal tending from Samsonov. It all lead to a moment where tempers boiled over on the bench in the 2nd period of last nights game against the Boston Bruins where Matthews showed his frustration and Nylander threw some jabs right back. What I believe the internet is getting wrong about this though, is what it is that Nylander actually said. I cover that and breakdown the entire game in todays NHL hockey video!

You can't blame that first goal on Sammy. The guy with the go to his backhand and he stretched out his leg to block it and and then he tucked it through the middle. Try playing goalie for real and see how that plays out for you. Clearly you haven't.

Make a Marner trade. Get the best you can and send a message to the team. Maybe Chykhrun and a draft pick or 3rd line player. Something needs to happen.
You can't pay 4 guys half the cap, how many years is it going to take until the Leafs realize it.

Honestly, the Leafs had so many teams these last 10-15 years that didn't really have the depth that they needed, but they had a decent core to build on.
These last few years, though, it really seems like the majority of players are playing their own game. It's not a team effort. Matthews, Marner, and Tavares are guys that dont have that grit, in my opinion. They play a solo game and never really seem to be on the same page.
It isn't going to matter when we are all homeless and hungry in five years.

The bruins are absolutely not better than the leafs it all comes down to coaching. The exact same leafs powerplay used to be top 3 in the league and now they can't buy a goal.

Keefe is the WORST coach the NHL has ever seen!!! We have the potential of having a 1st line that would compare to any 1st line in the NHL but because Keefe is such an a hole he doesnt, that line would be Matthew's, Marner and Nylander…. Matthew's Domi ans Bertuzzi SUCK and thats NOT how Matthew's got all the goals he did this season, it was because of Marner!!!!

Biggest mistake they ever made was signing Tavares. Shanahan and Keefe should have been fired years ago. That core 4 is playoff soft, and the window is closing. Imagine having such talent and in the playoffs they just never show up? They had no business winning round 1 last year in my opinion.
If they stick with Swayman, and Marchy keeps doin' his thing – yea, the Leaves are def toast. I'm a B's guy, but its kinda sad seeing Sammy let in some Bush League goals. I mean I'll take 'em if it gets us closer to a Florida revenge arch (lmao), but still. He's better than that. He needs his team to stop being bickering pussies, though, too.

When I read the video title I wasn't expecting to agree with much here, but this is legitimately probably the best and most honest take I've seen
Marner getting chewed out in intermission and coming back to score also reminds me of a Penguins playoffs moment—when Crosby was getting heat from commentators for “vanishing” in the round against the lightning only to come out and score the overtime goal.
And I’m not saying they’re the pens, either. Weird collection of parallels, is all.
They might not have the juice, but I don’t think it’s a case of the Leafs not caring. If anything, I think it’s the opposite. They clench down too hard and hit panic mode because they’re terrified of failing again. There’s a lot of pressure on them—way more than any other team, tbh. Im not even a Leafs fan, and the sheer amount of vitriol is impossible to escape. I’m not sure there are humans on the planet who could keep their wits about them 24/7 with this kind of pressure.
Guys like Crosby face a lot of pressure, it’s true, but Crosby isn’t held accountable for 70 years of failure on top of his own struggles, and the leafs kids have been held up like it’s their responsibility since the day they put these uniforms on.
No shade against leafs fans for being so upset, because i get the frustration, but sometimes I wonder if the leafs would already have a cup if the fans and media weren’t so hard on them for every single mistake.
Every time they make a bad play, they hear about decades of failure, and most of that failure wasn’t even their responsibility. They get booed by their own fans more than the Sabres—looking from the outside, that seems pretty irrational, considering that they’re routinely in the running for the cup. No wonder they’re acting like they’re holding sticks of dynamite with the fuse lit. I feel sorry for Leafs fans, but I honestly feel worse for their boys. It must be hell to be one of them. I wouldn’t be surprised if some of them hate their jobs these days. I’d be asking to be traded, if it was me.

Toronto is a team of egos plain and simple. They are not mature enough to play in high pressure situations that the playoffs bring. Yes, they are good in the regular season, but, that means nothing when you can't back it up when it matters most.

I just started getting back into watching the nhl and based on the way that TO wrapped up their season by playing the lightning I had a gut feeling they’d lose in 5 to Boston.

The leafs are such a loosing franchise with loosing mentality and the main problem is they play regular season hockey in playoff time all the time that s why they got kicked out in the first round all the time. The draft system in the nhl will not help toronto at all. They cannot just quit contracts or buying new players. When that would be possible, I would reorganise the whole team and exchange really the whole team. Especially getting rid off some players like Matthews and Marner and Nylander. All 3 are absolutely not there in playoff time and are no real leaders. They are average you can say. The Bruins are by far not the best team in the league, they are really strong but there are also at least 10 teams they have the same or similar quality. They outplayed Toronto completely and they let them look sometimes as amateur hockey players. That s really embarassing. They always play solid regular season for nothing. And they knew it every season. How they wanna find a motivation for next regular season? MAAAAAN. The last franchise I would go to would be Toronto. Rather I would go to Arizona before I would go to Toronto. I would also prefer Ottawa and Montreal they have more potential in future.

There is a neck and neck race between jets and leafs as to which team is a dumpster fire first . Lots of big money spent on players under preforming . May be injuries or sickness but whatever it is this is unwatchable . Bruins unfortunately are the better team

Just for change of pace, i wouldnt be confident if i was a Boston fan. Oh yeah, they will move on to the next series, probably tonight. However, it is quite unlikely that they will be getting a goal every 6 or 7 shots in the next series. If all you muster against a 'terrible' Leaf team is 22 shots, i dont think I'd be planning a parade just yet. 6:13 6:31
you try and trade Nielander to habs for Savard, another young stay at home defenseman , a few second round players and maybe deal will be made. habs need a goal scorer.
Reilly is routinely so far out of position that the guys covering for him get blamed instead.
