Sammy let in 2 goals I think he needed to have, but the Leaf's looked good physically but trying to much, they need to understand when to make a hit and when to just win the puck battle, but if this team gets no offence they are about to lose in 4.

Very tough to find any positives to this one. You nailed it pretty well on the bad play by pretty much the entire team. The Matthews post, followed by a very soft Carlo goal was the turning point for me. Leafs can't be donating goals, like that ridiculous long 2 on 1 3 minutes into the game, then the Carlo goal to make it 2-0. Add in the dumb penalties, and it's recipe for disaster. If they do an encore of this in game 2, then it could be a very short series.
They messed up when they let all there no moves kick in before dealing em , marner should have been the guy to leave and then next season when tavares is up he goes , that marner money you could have actually rounded this team out , got an actual starter goalie maybe ….maybe a few actual defense men who are tough and who dont pinch who just defend … Same 5-6 players making up like 53+ mill of cap still here still same culture still same bullshit
samsonov doesn't seem to realize that he needs to see shots to stop them, and just stands there, making no attempt to look around the net presence…those two goals were pathetic. the leafs are obviously playing scared!

Disappointing loss for sure – mainly because the Leafs haven’t learned anything from their four previous losses to the Bruins this year. As pointed out by BS previously the Bruins are a lesser team than they have been in recent years and the Leafs need to exploit that with 60 minutes of disciplined hockey like they played against the Oilers several weeks ago. In that game the Leafs played a strong, physical Team game for almost 3 periods and chased the Oiler players from in front of the net and to the outside for the most part. After the win against the Oilers I actually thought that Leaf’s had turned an important corner going in to this years playoffs. But they need smart, physical, team play for 3 periods to beat the Bruins and they better find it quick. And when one of your guys gets knocked over the boards the way Lylegren was last night someone need to answer the bell. Ding!!
Nobody ever mentions the Bruins plug d men into a predetermined, team mentality of systemic defence. The team itself, if you say has an avg player, he at least has to have a predetermined amount of grit, and be coachable and have buy in to the team system. Not to mention top down you have Cam Neely running the show- who as a 50 goal, 50 fight man- his dick holds the door for him when he walks into the locker room. There’s accountability ten fold. That is what the leafs, who have much better players on paper, lack. Any questions?
Currently watching Florida versus Tampa, I am feeling sorry for whoever has to play either team next round. Atlantic division winner is coming from the Sunshine State……provided they don’t kill each other first lol Hitting is brutal in this game, there will be a lot of bumps and bruises at the end of this series. And then one day, the sun comes up, and everything is suddenly going your way. Keep your faith, one of these days they’ll get the right combination of management (usually by accident) who will build a great team.

But you have to ask yourself… what did the 2 guys with the most icetime do to score a goal? Your No 1 goalie was so bad he had to go to the Marlies. And should have stayed there. After 40 years on the fan wagon… Im getting off.
