Was curious so I combed through all lottery data since 1995. Seems very statistically unlikely that this would be a “random” distribution of luck.
Maybe we can move up 10 spots like the Flyers, Rangers, Hurricanes, etc. this year to regress to the mean.

Why do I have a feeling that this will be the time when the Wings actually win the lotto, only to go up to 5th overall? Should have been last year but heaven forbid the Blackhawks didn’t get Bedard. Oh well, 5th is better than 15th, so I’ll take it, if it happens
You might need to account for draft picks that are not their own as the senators have won into the draft lottery and moved up with a pick that wasn’t their own.
Rangers and Black Hawks have the most luck. Hmmm….
