Tampa Bay Lightning coach Jon Cooper had a touching tribute to legendary broadcaster Bob Cole on Thursday, April 25, 2024.
Cole, the voice of Hockey Night in Canada for 50 years, passed away Thursday. Cole was 90.
Cooper spoke following his team’s 5-3 loss to the Florida Panthers in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
The Panthers have a 3-0 series lead; Game 4 is Saturday in Tampa at 7.

Tuesday, Sam Bennett scored to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead — then assisted on Vladimir Tarasenko’s goal on the power play later in the period.
The Lightning tied the score at 2 with two goals in the second from Brayden Point and Steven Stamkos.
Sergei Bobrovsky, who was spectacular all night, made 21 saves in the win.
Carter Verhaeghe scored 2:59 into overtime for Florida. He now has five OT goals in playoffs — tied for third all-time in NHL history.

He was the best. He is history. All of my hockey memories were narrated by him.
Very classy and incredibly human response from Coop.
We all did it when we were young, play road or ice hockey and hear Bob Cole's voice in our heads as we scored in OT in game 7. Just like Coop is saying.
