  1. You can't win on the road, you can't win at home, you can't win with a powerplay advantage of 4-0(!!!), and you're too cute with the puck to do anything with it most of the time.

This is the kind of loss that Tampa needed to shake up the staffing they've had. Particularly Jeff Blashill, his schemes have been downright abominable this season.

  2. we the Panthers up 2-0 I was giving FL a 52% chance to win the series. With them up now 3-0 I have moved it up to 58% of winning the series. Should they win game for and go up 4-0, I would bump that up to a 60% chance they win the series. Same thing with the game tonight, 4-2 it felt like a tie game. 4-3 it felt Tampa had the lead. Not counting any chickens before the eggs are laid nevermind hatched.

  3. I suppose there's the always the very faint chance of a reverse sweep, but the Lightning already seem destined to face the brooms.

  4. As a Bolts fan, this sweep (and make no mistake, it will be a sweep) has been such an obvious slow burn over the last couple years. My personal take this season was that we would fall just short of making the playoffs this year, so better than I thought already. Have not been a JBB fan going back to 2021, and the reason has been more apparent since then. Congrats to the Panthers for playing us flawlessly this year, really stellar stuff by them, and best of luck in whichever rematch (Boston methinks) they get in round 2!

  5. Salary cap just got the best of tampa we lost too many key pieces over the years… Including the guy with the game winner in game 2.

  6. Stamkos blocked Tarasenko not Tkachuck on the empty net shot attempt. Love the hard work and effort. I just couldn't sleep without saying something haha.

  7. Panthers vs Lightning, 148 hits, nhl record, Panthers 0 power plays, Lightning = cleanest team in nhl history. i see you nhl.

  8. When even The Great One is pointing out how completely outmatched your squad looks, you know the writing's on the wall. This offseason, the Bolts need to do what the Pens and Caps were too stubborn to: appreciate the incredible run they had, but admit that it's time to retool and say goodbye to some of the old guard that helped make the Cup wins possible. Yes, it hurts, but it'll prove the difference between being back in contention in a few years and having to endure over a decade's worth of agonizing rebuilding. Just ask the Red Wings: the latter is not fun.

  9. Florida's ascension has interestingly mirrored Tampa's decline. When the Bolts were looking to 3-peat, the Panthers pretty quietly won the president's trophy, then finally got the quality playoff experience with their run last year while Tampa gave Toronto their curse-breaker.

Now Florida's in a new position – very solid record, dominant regular season, AND the experience of previous playoff runs. This team looks awfully hard to beat 4 times, I'd be scared if I were the rest of the playoff field…

  10. Vasilevskiy playing the puck to wave off the Panthers' third icing in a row with about three minutes to go was what sealed it. Instead of a faceoff in the offensive zone and a chance to tie with the defense flailing to clear and Bobrovsky a little shaken from a minute or two before; there were forecheckers right there to disrupt the play and flip the momentum back to Florida.

  11. At least they got two cups and a third final. It was fun while it lasted. Having to switch out most of the bottom six every season really kills a cup winning team. Also, THAT trade keeps getting worse every day. Considering how good Lighting are at developing players that fits right into the team when called up, who knows what they could have got with those five draft picks?

  12. I wouldn't be too hard on Tampa. I could see them winning a seven-game series against many teams in the East–they're just up against one of the two (Florida and Carolina) who seem to be on another level right now.

  13. I think it can be the year for Florida, they deserve it, i think this serie will finish at 4-0 then in second round, Florida will come fresh vs BOS or TOR out of a rude serie, likely 7 games.. I think Fla will ride at least to conf finals…

  14. THG: You can’t have bad ice at the start of the game
MSG’s fifth-floor rink on a humid day beyond the first round: Hold my slush

  15. Payback coming for the '22 Lightning sweep of the Panthers' President's Trophy team… Lightning is a good team, Panthers are a very good team that's turned on playoff mode and has legit ambitions for greatness…
