The Day After: Edmonton Oilers 4, Los Angeles Kings 5 (OT) Discussion

The Los Angeles Kings evened up their first-round series against the Edmonton Oilers last night, besting them by a score of 5-4 in overtime. The #oilers were led by Dylan Holloway who had the first two-goal game of his career in the losing effort. Stuart Skinner probably wants a couple of goals back and for the most part the top guns of Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Zach Hyman were all kept fairly quiet by the #kings at 5v5. There’s a lot to discuss so sit back, relax, and enjoy today’s video!

  1. The live coverage has been a lot of fun, at least for the parts I can stay awake for. If the Oilers score with a goal differential of 3 or more during game 3 in LA, I am calling Oilers in 5.
If there is anything we know about facing LA is that speed kills and to put PUCKS ON NET.

The lines are so tricky because we have people that can slot elsewhere but also players like Foegele who only seem to produce when on Draisaitl's line. (Who hasnt been producing.)

  2. Remember this is STU 2nd year of being a goaltender in the NHL he Admitted he should have been better and he will fix it. If people want to keep bitching about it how about being in there position try and do and lets see if you are spectacular cause i can guarantee nobody will

  3. The goalies in the other playoff matches are making saves on these type of grade A shots all night long.

  4. Was saying this all along. If anyone has complete faith in Skinner then I envy you. He was terrible last playoffs and has picked up right where he left off.

  5. The goalie complaint is a wash guys. Talbot is just as bad as skinner. The Kings will have a huge advantage if they start Rittich. He’s looked good this season.

  6. We outplayed them this game. Just unfortunate fluke turnovers have gotten them like 4 goals in the series. We're still leading in goal differential though. I think we SHOULD like 95% sure we win this series even though it's 1-1. PS what a stream again guys. Thanks for all the fun even though we lost. Yall are awesome! <3

  7. Skinner is an open book….high glove side…or anything Lateral East/West …or blocker side bar-in…. open for business 24/7/365 …. start Pickard or go down 2-1 with Game 4 in LA.

  8. You want skinner to make a save on Kempe’s (a 40 goal scorer) shot yet you say nothing about holloways two garbage goals and kulaks garbage goal that all should have been saves. You can’t have your cake and eat it too. Talbot was worse than skinner last night. The fiala goal was awful. Need a save there.

  9. I think Holloway should be moved up with Draisatle and NH. Skinner needs to be sharper for sure. Talbot made two huge saves on Draisatle on the power play and Skinner gets scored twice on long shots. He has to stop those. Let’s hope they turn it around in game three and keep it going.

  10. Amazing how tunes can change. Oilies were thinking KINGS were gonna be easy. Well as we saw last night, nothing is easy. Hopefully the KINGS can crush your cup hopes.

  11. Yup, we don't need another goalie they said, the one we have is good enough they said, we have a good enough defense they said. Cup or bust they said
    🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  12. Puck luck only goes so far. LA can only get so many goals like a double bat off Bouch and then Kempe to score, or a perfect Trevor Moore knockdown straight to Kopitar.

We’ve seen it two years straight, if this is what it takes for LA to barely hold on in OT, we know who’ll win in the end.

  13. The boys played hard to come back but when the gets ahead what does Skinner do lets them in, honestly how frustrating is that, Skinner should have been pulled cause he looked Shakey, anyone can tell when you keep doing the same dam thing over and over again letting 3 goals in on 6 shots pull him. It cost the Oilers the game.

  14. Kings scored the game's first goal. We should have been better at recognizing the 1-3-1 after that. Im hopeful we adjust to that situation, if it happens again. Also, the swarming of McDavid, initially stifling in appearance, looks like it may present an opportunity to create scoring chances for the other 4 Oilers skaters on the ice.

  15. I have no faith in Skinner, I do not think he is a playoff goalie. We should try Pickard. We tried Skinner last year and it didn't work out.

  16. The Coach cant be afraid to healthy scratch Perry for Brown. Perry too slow. Brown can skate and can contribute to the fore check and PK.

  17. Top 2 lines generated nada 5 on 5, and yet the Oilers came back from 2-0, 3-1 and 4-3 to get to OT. LA has had some great bounces and puck luck so far. Things like that have a way of evening up over the course of a series. If they can sustain the adrenaline drive the Kings will have in the first 5-10 minutes, Oilers will be better in game 3.

  18. Skinner is like a lot of tall goalies, slow positional, with defensemen either out of position or blocking his view.
Forward lines never thinking about defensive support.

  19. I thought they should have been trying to stretch the kings with speed but it looked like the Oilers were playing at the speed the Kings required.
And even more, I thought the Oilers didn’t close on checks aggressively enough. They let the kings shoot. I need to see intensity appropriate for winning a cup in the peak of McDavid times.

  20. Keep on thinking that it's fluke bounces and you got this. The less serious you take us, the better I feel. The good news for me is that if you guys do win again this year, Blake will probably get fired.

  21. I think maybe you move McLeod to the 2nd line LW position and either put Nuge at C on the 3rd line or put him with McDavid then move Henrique to center the 3rd line. Just throwing this out there.
