Despite some of our boys having awful games, and the powerplay being frustrating, our boys dominated the preds. They can do this without Demko!

matches the eye test. but let’s actually get those goals in net next game

  3. intelligentx5

Well they Dr. Fucking Stranged the shit out of us and found the one way to win don’t doesn’t matter

  4. SukhdeepLaDingdong

Maybe if any of our star players can score a single goal

Losing that game in such a demoralizing fashion, where we poured as much offensive pressure on the opposition as I’ve ever seen in a hockey game, is leading to selective memory. Demko’s injury isn’t helping with the negative pattern-seeking habituation either.

People are giving far too much credit to the Predators’ defense. Yes, they fearlessly put bodies in shooting lanes, and blocked a lot of shots. But that’s it. They didn’t have an effective forecheck, or make zone entries difficult for us. They passively let us set up, and didn’t stop us from getting high danger scoring chances.

Many of those high danger chances were as terminally cloae to a goal as you could possibly imagine.

Petey hitting the side of an empty net.

Petey saucing it to Garland instead of firing on an empty net, and that saucer being airborne slightly too long for Garly to tap it in.

Suter putting the rebound an inch too low and getting pad.

Suter barely missing the redirect on an empty net.

Suter straight up missing a tap-in rebound on an empty net.

Joshua having all the room in the world to put the rebound home, but tripping and jamming it into the post.

That game was the textbook definition of losing to bad puck luck. The chances of Nashville winning like this over a seven-game series are abysmal. I haven’t lost any confidence in this team.

I think when a team is down and pushing and the other team just collapses and blocks any shot and tries to hang on to the lead it’ll show this. The key will be to play with the same intensity and attention to detail from the start of the 1st on Friday.

I would kill to just be able to get .900 SV% goaltending for the rest of this series. I know the Canucks can hold the Predators to 20 shots a game, they just need DeSmith to not be in .750 SV% mode.

  8. DMyourboooobs

When your goalie posts a .650 SP. that’s what happens.

  9. It’s ok the PDO from early season balanced out in one game so we good now.

  10. Apprehensive-Camel47

I was upset with our fans, ZERO cheering or hype. Fans don’t realize how much they can sway a game just by supporting our boys.

Honestly, I think the Preds are going to be hurting from all the blocked shots. Within the next two games the Nucks will break through.

Man some people really are ready to give up after 1 loss. It’s a possible 7 games series for a reason. I was impressed of our forecheck last game but damn we could just not buy a goal.

I’m excited to see where this team goes

  13. calgary_db

    Neat buy who cares.

2011. Canucks had best goal differential in the whole league. Only wins matter in playoffs.

  14. TheWiFiGuys

They dominated the zone, but were they really dangerous? As I’ve mentioned previously, the ‘Nucks continue to play from the outside. Pass, pass, back pass, pass through the seam…..but the shot comes from the outside 8 out of 10 times.

It’s predictable. It’s obvious. It’s easier to block up the shooting lanes for the defenders. IMO, it’s why the power play has tanked. But we just.keep.doing.it.

Most of our goals in the second half have come from the circles and lower, no? Is this not why Garland, Joshua and Bleuger are so effective?

I understand the play, and see its value. But I feel we’ve become a one-trick pony. We’d better learn some new tricks, or we’re done for. This isn’t about the last game, it’s about the last half of the season.

  15. ProtoMan3

I struggle with this, I think the Leafs in game 1 had like an 82% chance of winning despite getting blown out.

We’ve been inconsistent with finishing for a lot of the second half, and any leaky goals we allowed are still likely to happen given our goalie situation. The turnovers we allowed are the one thing that felt somewhat uncharacteristic, plus some of the penalties we took (though Nashville didn’t score on any of their last game). Also our PP has sucked so drawing penalties, while effective on the Deserve to Win O’Meter, isn’t helping us as much as I hoped it would.

We can’t just outplay Nashville, we need to outplay them enough to overcome the talent deficit between Desmith and Saros. I think we have the capability to do it, but being able to vs actually doing it are two totally different things. Nashville’s blocked shots game might not win them a cup in terms of sustainable play, but it can win a series. We need to do a better job of breaking through their defense the way we did in game 1.

  16. Has anybody heard if any preds are out, blocking 30 some shots is impressive, doing it with out getting a bone bruise is a miracle.

  17. JauntyGiraffe

    Sometimes it be like that.

    That’s why it’s a 7-game series.

  18. rhino_shit_gif

Don’t stoop to r/leafs levels of cope here guys

  19. lightningmcmemex

Anyone watching the game could tell you canucks were better, just not efficient on the scoring side of things
