Do Canucks have any chance without Demko?

The Canucks were dealt a massive blow with the news that goaltender Thatcher Demko is out for Game 2 and is questionable for the rest of the series against the Predators. TSN Hockey analyst Martin Biron joins 7-Eleven That’s Hockey to answer whether or not Vancouver has any chance of winning without their star netminder.

  1. If Smith does not do it for the Canucks we have a world champion behind him. šŸ˜‰ Ken Dryden one the cup as a rookie. It could happen again with Silovs.

  2. Cmon now Demko is always hurt and it unfortunate for the Canucks! But really DaSmith has been really good down the stretch and hes been thru playoffs before so shouldn't be a stretch for him to take it rest of way if neccessary!

  3. Do they have a chance? A chanceā€¦.? A chance? MF statistics say their chances have simply gone down.

  4. If they were playing rhe sharks or ducks yes they can surviveā€¦but a good playoff team like the predsā€¦lets just say their chances just went 50/50 now

  5. Everyone is trying to stay positive and down play this, but in the back of my head i know its all over. We might get past Nashville but we will get lit up by the Oilers with either DeSmith or Silovs in net. Almost time to think about trading Demko soon if he can't stay healthy for more than a 3 game stretch.

  6. We were without Demko for what? The last 2 months of the season?
Obviously we're better with him. But the boys will be fine.
Desmith is a perfectly competent backup.

  7. canucks' post season is over with the loss of demko. even if they survived the series against the preds, they are not going too far after that without him
i had high hopes for them this post season, but well, with demko gone, i can see my hopes have evaporated into the thin air….

  8. Unfortunately for Vancouver, without a NHL goalie, Nashville will undoubtedly win the series. Good season boys, better luck next year. Hopefully by then, the Canucks get a number one goalie who isnā€™t injury prone.

  9. Nope. But only scoring once doesn't help either. DEAD IN THE WATER without Demko. Just like the end of the season.

  10. According to the "Deserve-To-Win-O-Meter" the Canucks had an 80% chance to win toight, but poor goaltending did them in.

  11. Of course, they have a chance, but without Demko, the cup will never happen. If this year gets thrown away because of Demko I think the Canucks should look at other options. Demko would still have good value, and it would be better to have a goalie who can stay healthy. I would take Saros over Demko right now. Swayman, of course. Ullmark all day. Oettinger, I would do it. Demko is the better goalie, but he has the injury track record of a Carey Price, and his 30s are going to be a carbon copy of Carey's.
