What changed for Avalanche in Game 2 vs. Jets?

The Jets allowed three goals in just over a five-minute span in the second period, eventually falling 5-2 as the Avalanche even up the series. Jay Onrait is joined by TSN Hockey analyst Frankie Corrado to get his thoughts on what the Avalanche did differently to keep the Jets in check offensively in Game 2.

  1. If I'm Team USA GM for the 2026 Olympics and I saw Conner Hellebuyck playoff stats there is no way I'm playing him in the 2026 Olympics. After all the 2024 and 2025 playoffs are Olympics tryouts for all of the players wishing to go to Italy to rep their country in 2026.

  2. The Fraudulent Jets have shown up for game 2 as well as 2019 Playoff Hellebuyck…

Avs in 5 if Jets keep playing like this..

  3. Well first of all, Hellebuyck is playing terrible, and we could be up 2-0 on the road, but 1-1 is still a win. Now we go back home as the best team on home ice with good goal tending. Avs in 6

  4. According to the "Deserve-To-Win-O-Meter," Colorado had an 81.9% chance to win Game 1 and a 64.6% chance to win Game 2. The only thing that changed is that the Jets played better (but still lost).

  5. Bowness is being outcoached by Bednar. End of story.

The Jets got the jump on the Avs in game 1, but the Avs damn near clawed their way back into that game, only losing by one goal.

Bednar saw something in the second game and made an adjustment and the Jets were damn near powerless to generate any offence. Every pass they tried to make kept getting picked off and/or intercepted and the Jets KEPT MAKING THE SAME PLAY!! It was infuriating to watch.

If Bowness doesn't make MASSIVE changes to the ENTIRE way the Jets are playing (including benching Toffoli for Perfetti), they'll be flying back to Winnipeg facing elimination. And if that happenes, it'll be the third consecutive year one of Rick Bowness' teams have been bounced in the first round. I wouldn't expect him back behind the bench in the fall.

  6. The output tonight wasn't enough if this is the blueprint going forward it'll be a short playoff run. Cycling the puck for half the PP looking for an open lane will never work. Make your success don't wait for it to present itself to you.

Open a lane up yourself with movement well timed shots. Greasy is the only goals you'll get in this series. Don't try to out finesse the AVS.

  7. It’s simple, Sunday Giorgiev had a bad game, last night Hellebuyck had a bad game.
